Looking for a smaller sheath knife., maybe 3-3 1/2 blade with a leather sheath. Looking for a bird and trout type of knife with a skinnier blade height. Solid cutter, slicer with not too wide of a blade something unobtrusive and easy to wear on a sheath on belt or even horizontal sheath. Main use is for breasting ducks and skinning rabbits and general knife use, maybe occasional whitetail, but easy to get out with waders on. Prefer carbon steel but am open to whatever. Looking in the 50 price range and prefer traditional styles, i. e. Wood handles/ bone. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've personally been eyeing the Browning 322946 for similar to what you are looking to do with it, I have a few Browning fixed blades that I really like, this one can be had on the bay for around 40 bucks, as for a multi position sheath you could always pick up a custom one for it, here are the specs,...
Blade Style: Skinner
Blade Edge: Plain
Blade Finish: Satin
Blade Length: 3-3/8"
Blade Thickness: 1/8"
Steel Type: AUS-8A Stainless Steel
Overall Length: 8-1/8"
Handle Material: Tropical Hardwood and Zytel
Handle Color: Brown
Sheath: Nylon
Country of Manufacture: Japan

Thanks Bob W. These r great threads. Most of these are pricey but some of these r just what I was looking for.

AG Russel has a nice bird and trout knife that might work for you. They also had a slightly larger version ( 4in blade vs 3.25in) called the Deer Hunter. Although I just looked and noticed that it is no longer in the catalog. Anyone know if its still in production? If so, it might work out for you.

I don't know the answer, but here's a picture for size comparison:

The locking sheath design was invented by Blackie Collins, and I don't think there's a more safe or more lose-proof sheath anywhere.

Grohmann bird and trout would be my choice I have the stainless version but you can pick it up in carbon steel as well. Made in Canada, and it works great as a neck knife.
