There seems to be a lot of you guys here who are as keen on torches as knives, so I would like some advice please.
I have been carrying a little AA Terralux which I am very happy with, easy to find batteries, solid pocket clip, button on-off, and about 100lumens with three modes. My only complaint about this model is it is deeply grooved and has machined steps or "ramparts" not the right term I know, but it makes it kind of awkward to get in and out of the pocket and tends to catch and scratch furniture and such.
I have had the revelation that many first time knife EDC people discover and now I don't like to be without it. So what I would like is a torch that is similar, AA batteries( down here in OZ anything other than AA or AAA could be issue to find), pocket clip, round 100 lumens, button on-off , modes don't concern me really( I don't use the tacticool disco setting much)but I would like a sleeker smoother design more like a Surefire or something. Price is not really an issue, well under $150 would be good but like knives I'll splurge a bit if its really good.
Thanks in advance guys.

I've been carrying a Surefire EB1 for a few months now and am very happy with it. Simple UI, typical Surefire quality, great beam.

I have a Fenix PD32 it can be found for around the $60-70 range and it is super bright (max 340 lumens) and has 4 brightness modes (5, 70, 135, 340 lumens) as well as strobe and S.O.S. modes. If your buying online the 18650 batteries are pretty easy to find in rechargeable and they last incredibly long times, way longer then any AA battery. Finding them locally would be more difficult but totally worth having them. I wont go back to an AA powered light.

I work in a college and can't carry fun stuff like knives but I carry a flashlight every single day. I carry it clipped on my left front pocket. I've had almost every brand. Fenix, 4 sevens, Streamlight, surefire. You name it. For me nothing beats surefire. I think streamlignt is number 2. 4 sevens and fenixs I've had switches break. I was super happy with a g2x tactical with one of those 20 dollar raven concealment pocket clips. I recently got an ed2 defender ultra and for the 2 months I've had it its been awesome.

Some AA powered lights can also use 14500 li-ion rechargeables. I've been out of the flashlight game for a while, so I'm not sure which models/brands do these days. I'd go with one that can, because you can use the 14500s for guilt-free lumens, have a very bright light, and still be able to use any AA you have lying around in an emergency. I'd also recommend having a AAA light on your keychain as well that can also cannibalize batteries you have around the house (like TV remotes).

+1 for Olight. I have the Olight S10 Baton. It uses one CR123A battery (not included) and is one bright flashlight. The clip can be reversed and it sits secure clipped to your pocket.

I have a energizer 45 luman on/off tail switch light that has worked pretty good for about the last 9 months. It makes for a good inspection light as it doesn't blind you close up

The 2 best (in terms of regulation [batery lofe] and light output) are the zebralight SC52 ($64) and the olight S15 ($50 and even includes a extension tube to convert it to a 2xAA light).

Both are around 250 lumen on alkaline /NiMH batteries and are totally waterproof, drop proof, metal housing with glass lenses. Regardless of what you go with you absolutely need to be using NiMH (standard 1.2v rechargables) batteries, alkalines can leak ruining your light, create hazardous waist and don't give you 50% the runtime of GOOD QUALITY NiMH's (such as Eneloops).

Thanks for all the great suggestions guys but in my searching I've found Prometheus lights Alpha ready made and think that one of those would go very nicely with my sebenza. Its not a AA but it does look like a pretty damn fine light. Thanks for the help and suggestions though.
