Ive got a RAT RC-3 on its way wasnt sure how i would conceal it. I was going to put it on my Leg holster.

Busse Active Duty. They are fairly thick and heavy for their size, yet have great cutting ability and edge-retention. And then have amazing lateral strength for prying.

They are very easy to sharpen, and very easy to convex if you care to invest in some sandpaper and mousepads.

And if it ever breaks, Busse will replace it.

Check out the Busse sales forum and you can find one in the $200 range. Most Active Duties I have seen lately are either "sage" (greenish blade coating with greenish-black micarta handles) or "muddy" (brown blade coating with tan micarta handles).

Oh, and I would recommend NOT sanding off the handle grooves if you intend to use it as a puncturing tool. They are designed to provide traction when you are thrusting it into something or pulling it back out.

Quite remarkable little tools, in my opinion.

Bark River mini northstar. If you want a tough knife with superb cutting ability for a reasonable price Bark River is always worth a look.

+1 on the Busse Game Warden! If you are willing to spend that kind of money on a small fixed blade, why not?!? You should be able to get a GW with a quality sheath and still be able to walk away with change.

you should look at bud nealy or al polkawski, imho they make the best edc fixed blades and sheaths around.

ditto that - I believe this family firm took something like 8 years to design this Swedish AF survival knife.

+1 to that.
The 200 you save by buying a F1 is really needed. :)
When you have bought ONE Fallkniven you cant stop, so the 200 will also be spent on Fallknivens, For 200 you will get a S1 and a U2 as well.
They are really good knives that will not disapppoint you. They do not have any tactical features on them either so it will not scare people. Even though it is a real survival knife it looks almost cute. With the new zytel sheath you can easily keep it in a cargo pocket.

Maybe a Rat Cutlery RC-3 would suit you nicely.

x2 - I love the RC3, I just got one and don't really carry it on my belt at all. I leave it in my bag or laying on the camp table as a food prep, utility knife and it suits me well. Super easy to sharpen, the handles only become more comfortable and secure when they get wet. It's truly a hard use knife that you WANT to use hard. I was a LEO/Security in the military and wish I had one of these knives back then, it would have come in very handing for the bush/post chores.

Good luck finding a knife and post pics of whatever it is that you end up getting.

Outdoor "survival" and "combat" survival is not really the same thing.
If I needed a knife to kill people with I would choose some Sykes Fairbarn type dagger. It might be useless for anything else, but it kills well.
If I take off the "fight" crieria in my selection, any knife can be used to injure the other guy, I would see what I need it for most, maybe I should get two knives. One combat survival, like the RC3/4, the ugly LMF II, Fallkniven S1 and other a bit bigger bayonet like knives, and one outdoor survival knives like Fallkniven F1/S1, RC3/4, Bark River etc.
I wonder how those "bent" knives from KaBar performs in the woods.

Fällkniven F1

For the rest of the money you can get a new sheath for it and still have money left for beer.
