Since we are all gadget hounds here I thought I would ask if someone here could recommend to me a good quality caribiner ? I am not talking about the huge 3" ones but something small to attach to my pants belt loop.

I have been searching ebay and there are a million of them. And they are around $2-$3. Just wondering if there is something out there besides the typical cheap hardware store type. And I don't want a $200 custom either. Just something small that can clip a Promethius light to my pants loop and one that won't fail or wear out.

This is the right place to ask this question so thanks in advance for any replies.

I have a Bison brand small carabiner that I use for attaching my keys to my belt loop. Works fine, have had it for a year or so with no problems other than the anodizing has worn some from my key ring. I think I found it on the impulse buy racks near the check out at REI.

I use a stainless steel snap hook that I picked up at West Marine over 30 years ago. The reason it has lasted so long is that the gate clip is a torsion bar, consequently the is very little stress to cause it to fail. I just clean it every couple of years and I'm good to go.

I've been using these Titanium McGizmo clips for at least 10 years with no problems:) (ignore the Droid carabineer on my phone leash, it's not the one you're looking for;))

I found some Bison clips on the bay. I might get one of those also.

It is these accessories like leather slips oct that makes our gadgets more enjoyable.

Is it one of those large carabiners or a medium size. Pic?

Fenix released a new Ti Carabiner this year. I needed something modular for my wife's keys that I could slip on when I need to carry them. They're 9 dollars I think? It's the best I've found for the price.

I use a Handgrey titanium Carabiner, I think it's the K-11 model. They have a variety but mine is the 1) smaller size 2) straight sides and 3)bottle opener. Something like $60 but it's a good size for me and I have found the bottle opener feature handy. It's also one piece construction, they laser cut the spring into the titanium, I haven't found it to be any worse for wear in the year I've had it. Maybe consider a rounded model if you have a lot of keys

Hered an old pic I took in comparison with a Prometheus Beta Qrv2, a Delica, and a PM2.

I would add that this Carabiner is strictly for keys and the like — it's not meant for any sort of load bearing.

Does the Titanium McGizmo come loose or unclip by itself easy?
The titanium Mcgizmo clips don't come off easily. I use the larger 32mm? (not available anymore I think) as a belt loop clip for my keys had one for years. the spring gate is steel. but I will say it is showing signs of fatigue and doesn't spring back closed like when new. still no problems with it though. have been looking for a new one myself and want to find a better system than the spring gate . also don't want to spend $200 on one though the Anso ones are awesome looking.

I use the small McGizmo clips
for attaching each key to the larger splitring. they are great for quick release of individual keys.

I found a guy on eBay who makes a ton of nice carabiners and is also very responsive in communication in one that I want made. Very reasonable price as well.

But I can't post a link due to the rules but if anyone wants to know they can PM me.

That is very cool has a bit of a steam punk look to it. I would just be concerned by the multiple fastenings as points of failure... though for keys I guess I needn't worry.

Well he makes several different styles and types. I just posted one of them. But I see your point of the multiple fasteners.
