Hi guys i got some extra $$ so Im gonna buy a multi tool. heres what it needs to have,
Pliers,
Scisors,
metal file,
phillips,*
flat head,*
*prefferably hex bit holder
serrated blade,
wire strippers,
and thats all, oh and it needs to be under $75
Thanks

There are lots of good multi-tools.

Does it have to have an onboard hex bit holder or is an accessory adapter ok? The Leatherman New Wave and Charge multi-tools have an onboard hex bit holder for "flattened" hex bits (a bit kit is available from Leatherman). Standard hex bits can be used with the Wave and Charge if you purchase the optional "bit driver extender".

A hex bit adapter accessory is also available for the SOG PowerLock and the Victorinox SwissTool X. All of those are good tools also.

What sort of work will you be doing? That may help narrow things down a bit. In my opinion, the PowerLock 2.0 has the best pliers and wire cutter. The SwissTool X is bomb proof and has the best selection of tools. The Wave/Charge has one hand opening blades and the best file.

well its mainly just for edc but I do do alot of maintainance work in the house and from the top floor its 3 storeys down to run and get the screwdriver so i like the convinience. also I do alot of tinkering with gadgets and electronics so i feel the need of a multitool. The blades arent that important because it will be edc'd with a vic OHF although good locking blades are also good for if I want to travel light.

I'll second the Sog Powerlock. Top notch tool, made in the USA. It can accept a bit driver attachment or 1/4" drive sockets. The leather sheath is also one of the best on the market.

the thing i dont like about the powerlock is that you have to open the pliers to get out the tools. I want at least some, if not all of the tools to open from the outside. (also the powerlock is $120). I dont like the swisstool x because there are just too many useless extras. the leatherman wave might be a good idea, but ill wait to see if any more suggestions come. are the pliers on the juice xe6 functional? I like that one alot but im afraid it might be too small?

$120 is awfully high for the PowerLock. It's usually around $60 (sometimes less on Ebay). The SwissTool will cost about $50-60 (sometimes less on Ebay). The SwissTool will be a bit more expensive if you buy the Plus version. I don't know the specifics about shipping to Canada but you might check the exchange section of Bladeforums, Amazon.com, or Ebay (e.g. felinevet, etc.).

Hello,

I'd recommend looking at the Leatherman Blast along with the Leatherman Removable Bit Driver. This bit driver fits on the phillips screwdriver of the Blast and takes either the special Leatherman bits or standard 1/4" hex bits.

You can see the Leatherman Removable Bit Driver kit by going to the Leatherman web sights and clipping on "Accesories" on the header bar.

Best - Joe
