i need some suggestions on a fixed and folder combonation to EDC. *noob speaking*

I need a fixed blade that can be used for utility/tactical purposes ( brand suggestions ? ex.SOG Benchmade etc. )
I need a folding knife that can be used as a utility knife, but some good brand knives that are worth it
NEED HELP FINDING A FIXED AND FOLDER KNIFE!!!!

well chief, what do you like? we don't really have much to go on, so next time try to be a little less vague and include things like:
length (blade, and overall)
materials
price range
designs you are curious about.
That being the case i'll give you my 2c from what ya got and see if it helps... benchmade are fine (folders and fixed are both solid workers) so check out their tactical line in particular. Sog is "OK" too, but it depends on what you are willing to pay. SOG seal pup/NW Ranger are fine choices for a small tactical/utility blade, however not too many peoples first choices overall (again, depending on price range) and you can do somewhat better if your wallet is deeper. Like, Fallkniven, ESEE, Scrapyard, Boker etc. they all have a great range of sizes in hard use knives that will fit almost anyone's tastes. as far as folders, Spyderco may look odd but they are real workhorses, and are used by loads of people who need a solid knife, that you dont have to worry about. You can get a folding tank like a ZT if you want to pay the cash (and they are AWESOME) but the Spydies are light, surprisingly tough and they cut like hell. I keep one in my glove box, my go bag and one on my work pants.

My thinking is that if you actually have the training to NEED a "tactical" knife, then you should already know enough about knives to have one in mind, or already own one. Just about any knife can be used for "tactical" purposes if need be, so focus on buying one that will serve your daily needs, as the likelihood that you'll ever have to use a knife on another person is vanishingly small.

Having said that, as a noob, I would recommend a Spyderco Delica as a folder. For a fixed blade, I really like my Koster Scout, but (as RR mentioned) you didn't say anything about size, price range, etc. You can pick up both of these knives, including a pocket sheath for the Koster for less than $200.

i am looking into a spyderco endura, i have a good budget for any high end , good brand, knife that will last, the length for a folder for me has to be 3-4 inches, and a fixed blade can be any length.

My favorite brands:

Fixed: Bark River Knife and Tool, Scrapyard Knives, Swamp Rat Knife Works, ESEE, Customs (can be had for around the same price as the higher priced production fixed blades but you get exactly what you want)

Specific Fixed Blade favorites:
Swamp Rat Ratmandu
Scrapyard Scrapper 5 (511 is close and still available)
BRKT Bravo-1
All my customs (because I either designed them or chose the steel ,length, handle material, color, grind, etc)

Folders: Spyderco, Benchmade, Zero Tolerance/ Kershaw

As far as specifics, my favorite folders currently are:
Benchmade 810
Spyderco Manix 2 XL
ZT 560
Spyderco Paramilitary 2

Folder: ZT0200, Spyderco Gayle Bradley, Paramilitary 2, Military
Fixed: Ontario Gen II SP50 or SP51

Together, about $200

Go with a plain edge satin version of the Presidio (mine is black serrated) or the ZT0550!
But if you don't like them take one thing from this, it's better to just spend the money on a good
folder that will last like forever than to spend on cheaper ones.

If you are really into the tactical/EDC knife, I would suggest looking into Emerson. They are pretty good folders and can be opened very quickly ;)

im trying to decide spyderco endura 4 ( tactical all black w. serration) or a benchmade ( not sure which one is more of a rival to the spyderco endura) i need some suggestions on a Benchmade
