Received a 112 Drop Point with an S35VN blade instead of S30V 🤷‍♂️

So, I ordered a 112 Drop Point with S30V during the Black Friday sale. The knife I received had a S35VN blade on it.

And instead of the Buck Anvil stamp, mine has the normal 112 with the 2025 date symbol.

I'm happy either way, just thought it was interesting.

My beautiful new knife:

My 112 and the Bantam 284 I bought to get free shipping. A much better little knife than I was expecting!

I have both of those models except my Drop Point 112 is S30V. It’s my favorite 112 among the ones that I own but I would rather have S35VN.

The 284 is a sweet little knife too. I had the same experience with mine. I bought it in a brick and mortar store and after handling it, there was no way I was walking out of there without it.

Nice pair! I like the nail nick on the 284. Somewhere between the catalog picture and production, Buck probably ran out of s30v blades.
That's what I'm thinking too... The custom shop drop point is only offered in S35VN. It doesn't make much sense to make more blades in S30V.

But it is odd that the Web Special version is still in stock for $104.99 if they are out of S30V blades. That same exact knife (with S35VN) would be $145 in the custom shop.

edit- For the 284 with the nail nick, It would be a good size and model to be a slip joint platform. Similar to like a Sodbuster Jr size.

I never held a Bantam, but I just assumed that it would feel REALLY cheap. It's still a plastic knife, but it feels more solid than I expected, and the little bit of texture is good.
