Received a black coated grip instead of satin

Hey guys, so like the tile says I ordered a satin finish mini grip and received a black coated mini grip instead. What should I do? Should I return it? Or exchange it? I'm going out of town tomorrow and was excited to bring my new knife with me. Should I keep it but email the sender and see if there is anything he can do?

If you bought it from an online dealer you need to email or call them and send it back for an exchange. That's really all that can be done if you want an uncoated blade.

My biggest worry is that it will look too tactical. I got the combo edge version, which is already iffy with non-knife people. With the black blade as well I'm worried it will look too much like a weapon. I'm a university student, and it's a priority not to create a scene when I use my knife.

If people are sheltered enough to be scared of a knife, I doubt the color of your "weapon" will make a difference to them

First of all, like anywhere you go you should know what the laws or rules are. I would assume it is against the rules to have that knife on campus. Go look up the specific rules. That said, if it is not against the rules or laws, who gives a flying frack what other people think....

If you got something you didn't order and are not happy, send it back. Any seller worth their salt should accept that return.

I wouldn't worry about what anyone else thinks. If you like it, keep it. If not, send it back and wait it out. I personally like the coated BM knives.

If you wanted a satin blade and they sent you a black one, e-mail or call the seller to ask for a new knife. A good company will take care of such a simple mistake quickly and you'll have the knife you wanted.

Unless you're in a hurry to use it (I'm assuming you've got another knife or two) or too far away from the seller to make it worth the trouble (having to deal with customs and so forth), there's no reason to settle for anything other than the knife you wanted since it's a regular production item.

People who are afraid of knives will overreact no matter what colour the blade is. If this sort of thing is really your main concern, I'd recommend getting an altogether different knife. Something like a SAK or a small traditional slipjoint.

The question I have is the black coated one still 154cm or by chance did they upgrade you to D2?

It is legal to have on campus. The rule is knives under 4 inches are allowed. In Canada the only rule is opening mechanisms and intent (which is partly why I'm concerned about a tacticool blade). I actually just lost my skyline and dragonfly (two knives in two weeks :eek::mad:) so the only non-SAK blade I have right now is the injection 3.0 which I'm not that big a fan of. I think I'm going to keep the mini grip because it's kinda grown on me. Just another excuse to buy another knife that will be seen as more 'acceptable'

We've got some intent based weapon laws in my country (for anything other than firearms), and I'm pretty sure your attitude and behaviour are a hundred times more important than the colour of your blade.

It's legal to carry in your campus and you like it, that's all you need. Enjoy it and maybe just keep a little SAK on your keychain for extra sensitive situations.
