Received a grail today.

I've wanted one of these for the longest time. An all stainless steel poliwog. Popped up on the forums earlier this week in LNIB condition and she just arrived today!! It's just so mechanical.....so weird...so....spyderco. Their ability to try things that nobody else would continues to blow me away (even though this is by no stretch a "new" knife). I'm having issues posting pictures in this post for some reason, so I'll just start the thread and hope I can add some in subsequent posts!!

Given your user name, I was expecting Sting. Does it at least glow blue??

Congrats! I have to say that that is one odd looking knife, though. I wonder if they were using the design to test the ball bearing lock?

Don't think it was for that. According to spydiewiki the dodo predates it by a couple of years. I don't think it sold terribly well as they only did the stainless version from 05-08.Then a G-10 version in 09-10. I will say that the lockup is rock solid. Not even a hint of blade movement in any direction.

I once had a Spyderco with that locking system...rather rare and much larger. Cannot remember the name of that model. It was nice; it was strange, but well-designed.
 
That's a new one on me. Pretty cool though. Congrats and thanks for sharing.. :thumbup:
