Received my BM 710 today.

I got it in the mail...I really like the shape of the knife and although it does not seem to be nearly as sharp as my Ritter RSK1, it sure does slice a lot better. In short, I really like the knife and highly reccommend it!
 
Maybe you want to compare the edge thickness between your Grip and your new 710.

As far as i have heard, the 710 features a thicker edge as the Griptilians in general.

It should be easy to see, if you look at the cutout at the back of the blade (nearest the handle).

Nope.

They feature all equal blade thickness, 710HS, 550, Cabelas' 551, and Ritter.

Just measured with... mmm... Schieblehre - slide gage?


Edit: all four are from 2004 production.
 
That is a great knife. It is still one of my top choices when I go out. It's always reliable. It always feels great. It always carries fine.
 
Yeah, I like how it seems to be a lot more heavy duty...but is still slimmer than the Grip. Cool knife indeed!
 
Congrats on your new 710 Mathman :D

I love mine, great pocket knife to have and hold.






Now, pick up a 705 to go with it and your all set :D
