I've owned a few Kershaws for a long time, and I have the S30V/polished G10 Leek that I bought a number of years ago. For most days I think the Leek is a bit smaller than I like for carry. I've been reading the forums and searching the Kershaw catalog for something a bit larger, and after reading the Blur photo thread I grabbed a used S30V blur on an auction site. It arrived yesterday and looks great. It has styling similar to some of the ZT's, but the handle style is a lot more conservative. It is also larger than I had imagined, not longer but maybe "fatter" if that makes any sense.
Overall the knife is a good design and appears to be made very well. It is my 4th assisted opening model, counting the Leek, a Chive, and a CRKT Delegate. It is by far the easiest for me to operate quickly. The CRKT has a lock that you have to disengage while opening it and while this might instill confidence in some people it slows me down a bit.
This one was lightly used and is in perfect condition except it was not sharp and has a tiny irregularity in the edge near the point. I can sharpen it myself. I bought it for a little less than I could have bought a blem, and I weighed that. Since I intended to carry it I thought for nearly the same price starting with a used knife vs. one with XXXX stamped on it would be a very slightly better value. The only thing that would make the knife better for me would be if it had blue, red or OD scales, but I don't mind the black. Well I wouldn't mind a satin finished blade either.
I guess what I'm saying is that I think this is a good knife at a great price, and the one with the standard blade steel would be a good knife at an even lower price.
