Checked it out before heading into work.... And I think I can give it two thumbs up from my initial inspection. Nice f&f, blade nicely centered, no blade wobble, nice walk & talk. I was excited to see the product in hand, and it is already in my top five favorite catagory amongst my modest collection of 30 or so traditional knives :-) A thank you to Coaltrain for having posted his up and enticing me to make this purchase :-)

Much thanks, guys! I really loved yours, Coaltrain.... and was hoping to be as happy with it as the pics made me feel... And I am :-)

This makes for my third Toothpick. I do like the pattern :-) The ones I now have are this S&M (my favorite)... My Tidioute #12, and my Camillus. They are all cool in their own ways... but this Schatt & Morgan is just so right in so many ways. I love receiving a knife in a priority mail box, opening it up, and being totally happy with the contents.... this is one of those times, for sure! :-)

And here my new Schatt & Morgan resides in a new display case I recently started filling. She is neighbors with a Schrade, Case, Forge De Laguiole, Remington (by Camillus), and my sentimental pocket watch and tiny knife. Waiting on my Tidioute French Kate and a Canal Street to be added shortly :-)

What a nice display (I know....I've said that before). The Laguiole and the S&M compliment each other quite nicely!

Thanks, Coaltrain :-) I like both the Forge De Laguiole and Schatt & Morgan very much. Personally, for the money... the Schatt & Morgan may be my most bang for the buck out of my collection. Neat bone handle, neat S&M shield, neat etchings on blade, ats34 stainless steel, nice touches added to bolsters for extra flair, good overall f&f, good walk and talk.... and all for less than $80 (compared to about $150 for the Laguiole). So, though I have my favorites in my modest collection.... this Schatt & Morgan is a heck of a nice knife... and a bargain to boot! :-)

Where are you finding the Schatt & Morgan for less then $80? I am somewhat interested in one, also.

I was just poking around the internet, and when I googled Schatt & Morgan toothpick, started checking out the venders, and found one with a great price and which I heard solid things about elsewhere. But, I don't believe they are supporting or connected to any knife forums, including this one. That being the case, I am not allowed to post the vendor here. But, you could google Schatt & Morgan Toothpick too, and check out the vendors that pop up :-)

That's an interesting pattern for sure, and I have heard all about S&M's standard. Seems like a winner to me, in the scheme of things it's very refreshing to see toothpicks out there, instead of other, more common patterns. I want a long slender toothpick, and can't help but consider the S&M. GEC's #12 is quite subtle, compared to Case, or Queen, and Schatt&Morgan. I've got a #12, but am after something a bit more exciting , like that this time around. I don't feel that it's the most exciting, but GEC's rendition of the toothpick is one of my favorites anyhow, and is among the most useful.

I have to agree Jimmy. I just received my first few Case large toothpicks today. While I didn't have a chance to work with them much, the first impression is the S&M is much easier for me to open and very smooth action all the way out. It really is a classy knife in both details and function.

I've been on a bit of a buying frenzy the past couple months looking for a couple patterns that meet my criteria, and this one is at the top for sure.

I've been ogling that toothpick for a couple of years now. Thanks for sharing, now I think I will need to pull the trigger on one.

The history that comes along with Queen made knives, is also a big selling point for me. The company's long standing history measured in years, is in itself awesome. The other, is Queen's interesting twist and turns. S&M being the firm that let go of 5 of their employees, and then those employees starting Queen. Queen then later buying the S&M name and moving into the building that S&M had worked out of, after S&M had went bankrupt. Fast forwarding to modern times, when one former employee of Queen partners up with another person to start up Great Eastern Cutlery, becoming a major competitor to Queen. And then again, another twist happening.... the former Queen employee's partner that helped in starting GEC, breaks clean from GEC, and ends up buying the Queen company...Cool stuff, all the way around! :-)
