I have just received my first ever khukuri, a beautiful Chiruwa Ang Khola from Yangdu's 8/31 deals.

It is not only nice but also very comfortable to hold. I never held a khukuri before, so I was a little bit nervous how would it feel in my hand, but its just perfect.
Those kamis certainly know something about handle ergonomics too!

In short: I am very happy!

Thank you, Uncle Bill and Yangdu, for the great khukuri, thank you for the superb customer service.

Wait until you swing it into some firewood.

Congratulations! There is nothing like the magic and wonder of the first HI; unless it is the magic and wonder of the next 10.

Thanks, munk.
I am still under the spell of the first khukuri magic.

BTW do you still like your German Eye knives?

Congrats on your new purchase. There's something special about chiruwas....just the way it is.

Stop by if you're ever down south in my neck of the woods. ;)

Thanks for the kind invitation, Dan.
Might go down sometimes to Branson. NW Arkansas should be just on the other side of the road, I assume.

Yep. Branson's not too far away. Hopefully someday we'll organize a lil' Okie get-together. Maybe in the springtime.

Nice "summer" we've had lately.......I think we went straight from spring to fall...!

You buy the first khukuri.... then, when you're not looking, it sends a postcard back to Nepal, telling it's friends and relatives how great it is here. Next thing you know, many of them are staying with you... and you don't seem to mind it a bit....

Thanks guys.
You are perfectly right, yesterday I got another triangular package... inside there was a nice BAS made by Bura.
Do you think we a have a pattern forming here? :D

The BAS feels kinda small and very light compared to the Chiruwa AK. It has several hairline cracks on the handle, the horn has shrunk away a little bit from the buttcap, but after reading the tutorials here on the Forum, I think a little superglue and lanolin will take care of everything.
Otherwise it is a great blade, very nicley shaped, evidently made by a master.

First I thought the 2 khukuries would cover all my bases, but now I keep thinking about more.
Is this normal? ...Is there a cure?
Or maybe I should ask instead, where can I get more money for more khukuries. :D

Good, that Christmas is coming, at least there is no need to search for excuses...

Congratulations on getting 2 great blades. I recently got my first HI and ever since I've been picking out other ones until it seems, at this point, I just need them all. Got to get a 2nd job. Thats all there is to it.

Thanks, DrClckWrk.

Meantime I purchased from Walgreens a lanolin containing baby care product.
It's called babyADE and the manufacturer is fougera.
It contains lanolin, white petrolatum, paraffinum and vitamins+synthetic lavandel oil. Doesn't smell bad and a cca. 3 oz tube was around $4.

First I cleaned the horn handle from the polishing rouge by wiping it with mineral oil.
I applied I applied for 3 nights and while all the cracks are still visible, all of them got visibly thinner. Also, the handle now well fits the buttcap too (there was only a very little shrinkage to begin with).

The horn handle is very smooth, still it feels quite secure.
Bura made a nice, oval shaped in cross section handle which securely fits in one's palm.
Makes mewant to carry it around all day long. Unfortunately, it's unacceptable in our PC driven world. :(

Well, today I received my third khukuri, a Kumar BAS from the 9/12 Yangdu deals.
It is perfect, as it was advertised.

The pic did not show any chakma, so I thought that might be the reason for the very low price.
However it arrived with a chakma included. If it was missing, Yangdu must have included one, even without asking.

Thank you Yangdu, it was most thoughtful of you.
