I got Ever's to make a stamp for me I did my last name
I got it in 3 /32 I did the H big and the rest is smaller
I tried it tonight and I can not see the small letters.
I think I may need to go up to 1/8 in order for the small
letters to show up,My whole logo would fit onto a pencil
eraser.Do they stand behind there work because I have 134 dollars
raped up into a custom stamp/Plese give me some feed back.this is the first dealings I have with a logo so I am confused, this stamp is for fixed bladeds, also do any of you know what a good size would be?
Thanks

I am more than pleased with the stamp I got from Evers. The letters in my stamp are 3/32 as well but they are all block letters and the same size.

I hate to be the one to say this but it looks like you got exactly what you ordered. If your intent is to have a large letter "H" and th rest, "ouse" in small letters, I would try to specify the sizes of both. If you don't do that then the folks that set it up can only do a "best effort". They can't read your mind!

Nathan,
Sounds like your Logo is a tad small.
They made mine and I just designed it on the computer and Emailed them a copy. They can enlarge or shrink it from there. Shrinking it is better!
I am sure they will take care of you if you just call.

EVERS made a very nice stamp for me. It works fine with letters about 1/16" high, given my long name. I let them design it for its intended use. Big stamps are very hard to use.

Had a Jewelry Manufacturing business for years and daily used a smaller stamp than yours, 1/32", for marking my name and metal content.

Stamps show up better after an item is finished and there is contrast between the stamp indent and polished surface.

Nathan,

I don't think a small stamp is bad thing. I tend to favor the subtle discreet approach instead of a grossly displayed logo or advertisment on your blade. If the craftmanship is there...then they'll find your stamp as they admire your work...and I think it will make more of an impression this way. I think it makes a statement that says: "hey, look at my work...and if you like it...look who did it". Its humble and honest as well as artistic and creative.

Now think of some of creative things you can do with a small stamp....Put your name on the spine of the blade, or butt....how about on a pin in the handle. Or a contrasting colored pin through the guard. Your only limited by your imagination...and this could become a recognized part of your style.

Just a few of my thoughts.

Hey, when are you gonna post a pic anyway? :)

Take care,
Rob

Some very intresting thoughts,I will keep them in mind.
MR Wilkins you are correct I did get what I ordered I am new
to logos so I did not know that the latter part of my name
would be so small,My letters are not block type so they are all
not the same size,I will give them a call the women I spoke with is very nice,so I will go from there.
Thanks for all the input,

I think will keep them,I used some scrap metal to pratice on and I hit it on a buff and the buff did feel the voild,it does bring it out
it is not big but like some have said it will be eaiser to work with
and I will not be limted to were I can put it.Now I can finish some blades I have been waiting to send to heat treat.

Nathan,
As a side note, there is another maker from Maryland that has a rather small stamp. If you ever get the chance to see some of his work, take a close look at the size of the touchmark on the blade. Have you ever heard of a fellow named Bill Moran???:D

C Wilkins

I now of Mr Moran but I have not had the pleasure to met or look at his work
Maybe one day I will be able to.If I ever get good enough to get to a show, only time will tell?;)

Nathan, keep it for when you start making folders;)

If you are using carbon steel try and "black" the impression after you stamp, then hand rub the flats, this may help bring it out.

When I hit it on the buffer it feels with compound and it brings it out,I still wish the ouse was a little bigger it is probably smaller
than 1/64.
