It's a European high-carbon steel. Don't know what it compares to.

This is what the maker writes about it:
The blade is carbonsteel, the german # is 1.2519. It has 1,15% C, 1,1% Cr, 0,2% V and 1,3% Tungsten. This is a very good steel and it outcuts the 52100 plus it builds very fine carbits.

Great knives. You can't go wrong with damascus and mammoth.
