This order of mine luckily showed up in San Diego, just in time for Eric Eggly to image it with two others that Curt Erickson had recently finished. The bottom one is the one I had ordered. The middle (bighorn) is one of Curt's takes on a modified NYS.

That looks like an amazing set, Bob!!
Good thing you had Eric shoot them. Who knows what the future holds?

All the best,

Bob, I think that these knives should be displayed like this:

David, Do you know something that we don't? Is Eric going away?

No way!! The knives might have done in different ways
and they do look good together..... :)

Congrats Bob. All are beautiful knives.

One thing I think could be improved upon however, is Mr. Erickson's blade stamp. It has changed a few times, and I can't say this one is an improvement. To me, it just doesn't equal the excellence of the knives.

Peter - This most recent maker's mark is about six months old. This new mark seems to meet with everyone's approval, though not everyone shares the same opinion on everything. Honestly, this is the only comment about the new mark that I have seen or heard that is negative. But it would be a pitiful world if we agreed on everything, huh?

Curt's previous mark dates to the 80s and saw almost no use for 15-20 years, the period when he was fully engaged in his career in law enforcement. I personally like the new mark.

One other thing - keep in mind that probably a third of all of Curt's knives bear a custom engraved maker's mark, due to the nature of high end art knife/dagger production.

Best,
Bob

a stately piece, and Bob as always your taste is stratospheric:thumbup:

Thanks for the info Bob. The mark would certainly NOT be a show stopper, but I just don't prefer the recent one. I prefer an "Old English" style BOLD first letter, versus the stylized one.

I FULLY agree that "opinions vary". From what i've seen of your collection, it is MOST enviable...at least by me. Buster was, and still is, my all time favorite artist in the world of high end custom knives, and you have some choice ones! That being said, Julie and Curt are undoubtedly another GREAT knifemaking team.
