Hey guys,

I revived my second R.A.M today as a backup. As I started handling it I immediately noticed a difference in the opening and closing action from the one I've been carrying for a few weeks now. Both are the same model and variant 1910CKT. Both have also been purchased from the same place (Amazon LLC).

However the one I received today opened much easier and also closed a lot easier than my first. The lock release also slides back to the unlock position a lot easier.
I kinda like the way my first one feels so I decided to open the scale on the lock release side and take a look. What I found was that instead of two bars with springs (I don't know the proper term for it) there was only one. Is this the new way this knife is being assembled or did this one just make it past QC? If it is a QC issue would I have to send the knife back for repair or would Kershaw just send me the missing part?

Another minor thing I released is that the aluminum anodizing is also different, the RAM that came today has a more matte finish than my first. But I know anodizing from batch to batch may vary.
My major concern is the missing part from the lock mechanism.

On a related note...should the screws that hold scales be intalled with threadlock?

Thanks
Chevy

My new one is much tighter and stiffer than my much used one.

I think there is a missing part. And yes they will send you parts for free.

You might not get what you are looking for the first time though. Just today they shipped me clip screws for my Zt 0200 that are about 1/2 as long as the old ones. But they will get it right, I am sure.

I use BLUE threadlock on all my knife screws. They won't come out until you want them to. And aren't too hard to remove when you need to.
