Hey all,
One of my goals for this year is to start making (and selling) more swords. Here's one that was commissioned last month.

You might call it a hybrid sword. The shape and construction style are more bronze age, but the blade material and patterning is more Viking age.

The blade is made up of three cores of 10 or so layers with offset twisting, and an edge wrap of about 300 layers. Steels used are 1084 and 15n20.

The grip is desert ironwood with mosaic pins.

The scabbard is my first ever. Wood core covered with leather. The chape and locket are bronze. Slide is bronze, held on with twisted wire. The scabbard is partially lined with shearling, with oil applied to it.

Your comments and critique are welcome.

Thanks for looking,

Great looking sword. Blades like that really highlight the technical achievement of viking culture.

Very nice.

Two things I'd like if it were my order.

The wood scales on the front. I'd like to see a bit more flare, to match the width of the flare at the back of the handle.

On the sheath, I would request a different attachment method for the belt.

It almost looks like a popsicle stick held on with string!

Maybe if the ends were looped back over, so the belt loop could not get away, or shift?

I'd have to have it in hand to really tell if I liked that attachment style.

Love everything except the lack of guard. Personal preference and all. Great work! Looking forward to seeing more swords from you.

holy crap! That steel is stellar

The Damascus pattern is gorgeous!
I like your handle material and shape, but I also prefer a guard on swords.

Can't wait to see more!

Yes I like that scabbard bridge system a lot.

Beautiful blade!
The handle, not so much. It looks more like a Busse knife handle than a good looking graceful old time handle. My opinion is that the handle design kind of cheapens the beautiful blade by looking like it was treated with a cookie cutter.

Keep up with the good work tho!

Absolutely fabulous, Phillip.

The butterfly weld and matching L/R twists are flawless.

That sword is absolutely stunning! I'd love to be able to afford a custom piece like that. Lucky person that received it!

Phillip, your work never fails to amaze me. That is incredible.
