Well, I went to a gun and knife show earlier today, and was keeping an eye out for the known red boxes with "Kershaw" on them, as well as some Zero Tolerances. I came across the usual Kershaws, like a few Leeks, Scallions, tanto Blurs, and other G-10 combos like the Compound, Tremor, or the Chill. I did, however, happen to see a few Kershaws that I found interesting. I saw a Junkyard dog, which I had never seen in person before, and the Barrage 2445ST knife from a few years ago (which I didn't even know existed until I came home, and then found the Salvo). Anyway, I thought the Barrage model looked like a very neat, solid folder, so I inquired about it and the man said he'd take no less than $65. Because I didn't know much about this knife, I passed and am glad that I did. I then asked about the Junkyard dog, and he wanted $158 including tax. Pretty certain that I could find it online for about half of that price, I then proceeded to pull out my 0561 which I had been EDC for a few weeks, and he offered to trade me a brand new standard ZT0350 with box. Now, I will admit...that 0350 is pretty freakin' sweet. Never handled one of those before either. I would have loved to see a stone-washed one and open it de-assisted! But, I had to break it to him that there would have been some cash needed on my end and that I love my 0561 WAY too much to trade anytime soon. Can you guess what my next ZT will most likely be? :D Looking forward to the next show next weekend!

Cheers,
Kevin

You should be able to get the Barrage online at least $20 cheaper than what that vendor was looking for. I'm all for supporting the local small guy but at the last gun & knife show that I went to there was one knife dealer there with tons of Kershaw knives priced way too high. I went there with a few pages of the Kershaw catalog printed out with the knives I was looking for. The dealer had some of his prices at MSRP or even higher. Some of the boxes looked like they have been handled a million times and some were even sun faded. I suppose with those prices he's been trying to hustle them for a long time.

Yeah, I agree. I guess I should have mentioned that I do like to support local vendors, but I will have to say that he probably has been trying to sell them for a while along with a lot of "catalog order" knives. Nice guy though.

Yea most people would trade new 0350 for a used 0561... Kind of crazy offer, I'd have been insulted.

Makes you appreciate people like Dave even more

Wow...I'd also have been insulted. I was at the ECCKS this weekend myself, any when I asked the guy how much the 3" non-flipper XM-18 was, his reply was "$900". I almost laughed in his face.

Another table has some nice ZTs, including the ZT0780, but it was $200. Meh...I've got one and I'm not about to pay twice what I did for the first one. The only attractive thing there at the whole show was a CF Blur, relatively new, for $80. I was about to jump on it, but I realized I have three already...

Knife shows are interesting places...but I did get to meet Rick Hinderer again. :D

I think it'd be pretty neat to meet Rick. I hear he's a very nice guy and will actually talk with you.

Absolutely. First time I met him, all I did was express how much I enjoy his designs, and it turned into a half-hour conversation on how the ZT collab got going and what he wanted to do with all the models. It was great hearing about how the lock stabilizer thing got started.
