Hello,

this is was recently finished, knives #7 and #8. As usually, this is all done with hand tools only.

#7, a Titanium Santuko kind of knife for the wifey. This was made from a cut off tip of one of Mechas swords, made from forged TiNb. And no, i did not cut off the Tip, the Master himself did it. :D

Anyhow, this is also my first attempt on a hidden tang and it came out quite nice i think.

OAL: 250 mm / 9,85"
Blade 130 mm / 5.1", 2.9 / 0.15" mm thick
Weight: 79 grams / 2.78 ounces
Handle is Ivory Micarta and Black G10 with a 2 mm Titanium Pin.

And # 8, my second Folder, made this for me as EDC. This time i wanted to make it an Ultralight Version with Micarta only Handle. Blade, hammer and Spacer was waterjet cut to safe me a lot of hacksaw and rough profiling time, still a lot of work to do, final profiling and everything else was done with files and sandpaper only. Blade was HT by Mecha.

OAL: is 200 mm / 7.87"
Blade (edge): 80 mm / 3.15", 2.6 mm / 0.1" thick. Made from ATI425 (as is the hammer and spacer)
Weight: 67 grams / 2.36 ounces
Handle: Blue Jute Micarta. Spring, Screws, Thumbstuds, Pivots, Stop Pin and the Two alignment Pins are made from 6AL4V. Spacer got a cracked ice finish all around and the hammer and Spring only on the inside.

Another fantastic job with hand tools....you must be a bit of a masochist? ;) :D

Has to be.

Thanks! Prolly just stupid, my arms are getting longer and longer :D

What's that old saying? "It's a fine line between bravery and stupidity." Super nice work! You're a machine, I say, a machine! Now you just need a machine to help do all that shaping. :Do_O

The "cracked ice" finish is interesting.

For the record, I only cut (just) the tip off of the sword because I found a hairline crack all the way through where I'd hit it the wrong way with a hammer, at the wrong heat. Cut it off at the crack. Almost NEVER happens...almost. BladeMan made fine use of that piece of TiNb. The ti scraps rarely go to waste, what with the prison shank market being so strong. :p

Just wow. And especially that folder.

BladeMan you need an avatar pic for your account. I recommend the generic super hero one I posted above. :D

I am ust curious, how well does titanium hold an edge? Sharpen much? Those two are very nice.

That's a question I've struggled to answer because it's hard to compare, but after a lot of feedback and mulling it over, it seems pretty accurate to say that with my heat treatment it's similar to a normal, basic carbon steel blade. Holds an edge well for normal knife use, and is pretty easy to sharpen. Overall, I've gotten good feedback on the knives. Then the bigger the blade gets, the more outstanding it becomes as it starts taking more advantage of the titanium's properties.
