Some know that I am trying to put together a shop as cheaply as I can by going to auctions and trading around and stuff. Well, I have recently (2 today) scored some bargains I am proud of and want to share with someone. My wife just does not understand why I get so excited about a new piece of equipment.
A couple weeks ago I bought a Homier mill/drill RF31 clone at a Homier sale for $499. This thing is huge, weighs 660#'s. I don't have the shop done yet so I just have it stored for a while still on the crate. Not for long I hope.

A week or so ago I bought a like new, with issues, Palmgrem 8" rotary table for $100. There is a big story about that I won't bore you with. The table had sat around for years with something laying on the table and it pitted.

So I take it to the local machinist and he said he could surface grind it for $30 Went and got it today. Looks brand new.

While I am there I see he has 2 6" Kurt vises for sale. One marked $90 and the other $80. If you don't know, these are huge, 75#'s each. Long story somewhat shorter, I paid $160 total for everything including getting the table ground.

This will be the last you hear from me on this stuff for a while I reckon. I really can't afford this stuff and need to get the shop done first. But I just couldn't pass up these deals and I had a little extra money to spare. Here is the shops current condition till we get warm enough weather to do some rock work. We put road pack in now it is wet and froze rock solid. We have to level it out and then pour the concrete. Thanks for letting me share.

Looks like quite a deal...really pounds on the jealousy bone...ouch!

:D

Yep, really great deals, and give yourself credit, you have plenty of smarts to know a deal when you see one! Good work, fella, and good luck on your shop. I have no doubt it will be nice!

This looks like you're building your own little slice of heaven right here! Watch out you don't spend so much time there that the wife takes it wrong. You probably don't need to ask why I mention that...

Congratulations, good luck, keep sharing we all appreciate your great scores.

Dave

Great score on that rotary! Best part about getting it surface ground like that is that now you absolutely KNOW the base is parallel and true to the top.
