recently made Remington bullet knives in delrin jigged to look like bone, list for under $30 and are made in the USA. were these all made by Camillus ? and who is making them now ? also are they of sufficient quality to be a reasonable user knife ? i learn a lot in this forum and appreciate the info. gained.

Up until recent times, they were made by Camillus, the newest Remington Bullet knife, the Renegade Swing Guard appears to be made by Bear.

I haven't tried it yet, but I have several Camillus ones and they are great users.

I have to agree, the Camillus ones really nice user's. Good finish and walks and talks great.

is it only that 1 pattern made by Bear ? are there tang stamps to show if a knife has been made by Camillus ?

As far as I know, only the 2007 Remington Bullet knife was made by Bear, other Remingtons right now are either Chinese, or Italian made.

Camillus made ones will have either the tangstamp with "Remington UMC" inside a circle with "Made in U.S.A." running around the outside edge of the circle, or later ones will have the newer tangstamp of a cartridge though a circle with "Remington" running down the cartridge, with "Madison N.C. USA" running around the inside edge of the cirlce.

I've not seen the Bear one close enough to know exactly what the tangstamp is yet.

i recently received my ebay ($7.05) Remington Bullet Moose. what a nice knife ! 4 1/4 inches, v. solid, heavy knife, orangey-red handles, mint. the tang stamp is the more recent Camillus: cartridge with remington (in script) on it, and circle with MADISON (above) and N.C. USA (below). this is on the "front" side of the clip blade. the other 3 tang surfaces have no markings.
does anyone know when this model was made ? what would be the cut off for "older" vs. "recent" Camillus ? and finally, did Remington have Camillus make just 1 pattern per year, or many ?

Remington had Camillus to build one regular Bullet Knife reproduction per year, UNTIL they did the "Bullet Commemorative" knives. They then released nearly ever pattern made all at once in this "Commemorative" line, in the red/yellow delrin and what appeared to me to be considerably lower quality of fit and finish. The market is literally flooded with these knives, and they have sold pretty cheaply. I have been into several knife shops where the owners were confusing these knives with the "real" Bullet Reproductions, and trying to sell them for the price of the real thing. Couldn't tell them a thing, they were all smarter than me, and I didn't know what I was talking about, blah blah blah, sometimes I think knife salesmen are worse than used car dealers or politicians, you can tell they're lying because their mouths are moving.

I would rate the "real" Camillus Bullet knives as good quality, the "commemorative" as mediocre, the newer Chinese Remingtons as repulsive, and the Italian made Premier series knives as very well made high quality knives, but butt ugly modern tacticool looking things. Ick. And they are extremely high priced.

I have a friend who collects Remington knives. He has just about ever modern made Remington knife built, and his comments on the new stuff went something like this: "WHAT IN THE **** were they thinking making this crap!!!!

thanks guys; mine is in the red/yellow delrin, but the knife is not crap, actually just the opposite, a very sturdy, solid feeling knife, strong springs, no blade play, and v. good edge grind. everything i want in a knife (as long as taking and holding an edge is good).
so, were some of these also made before they began churning out commemorative stuff ? i have a Moose from Billy at Vintage ($155) and the Camillus feels similar. so what's up ? roland
