Picked this up about a month ago, I think it's pretty nice. The way I understand it this one used to belong to Jerry. No idea if he ever actually carried / used it but either way it's a damn fine blade!
It differs slightly from my standard production model SJ as it is ever so slightly shorter, and while I haven't taken a mic to it the thickness certainly feels beefier.
Jerry, I really hope you don't mind too much that I have this knife. I know you gave it away as a gift and if it doesn't sit right with you that it's no longer with it's intended owner, please consider this an open invitation to take it back if you feel so inclined!
This knife did come from that particular seller on the bay who was letting go a few knives he probably shouldn't have.
Unfortunately (for me) the seller didn't exactly deliver on all fronts regarding this sale. Not that I'm really surprised. The deal was, this knife was supposed to arrive with a sort of letter of authenticity; the original correspondence from Jerry to the original owner. I thought this was a particularly interesting selling point and was more than ecstatic to receive a genuine piece of Busse history.
However, the stars did not align that night, and the original owner kept the letter for himself. I can't help but feel let down by that BUT I do have another outstanding example of Busse craftsmanship in my possession so I won't let the seller's flakiness get me down!
Side note: does anyone recognize the kydex? It came with the proto and I'd love to know who made it. It doesn't have any markings.
