Hi everyone Merry Christmas and I hope you are well. I'm sorry I have been quiet for some time. I was in and out of hospital so I didn't have much chance to craft. Anyway I just wondered if it is possible for me to ask for your opinion and advice on some of my latest works.

Firstly a knife sheath for a Busse, Son of Badger, a fantastic camping knife. The outer is a basket weaved black calf with a cotton lining made by Liberty:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libert...artment_store)

Liberty is a department store in my hometown of London opened in 1875 and it is renowned for its original patterns of textiles called Liberty fabric. Often lending its pattern in the form of collaborations to designers such as the likes of Yves Saint Laurent and Vivienne Westwood. Other than using it to make scarves, pocket squares and dresses for their own products they also sell the fabric at the haberdashery. Which is what I have used for its lining.

I've also used the same lining to make a key case:

The one below is made of latigo but just to give everyone an idea of how the key case works.

and finally a coin case I made for a secret santa present at work:

Thank you all very much for your help and have a Merry Christmas! :)

The fabric lining is a unique idea and looks great! My only concern would be durability of the lining, particularly for hard use which is what the knife it carries is made for.

Paul

Thank you very much Paul and popedandy :)

I agree, I made this one experimentally and I think I will only use it as a folder pouch liner in future (not one of those hermetically tight fitting ones but a loose generic pouch). Having said that quite surprisingly I did make another key case like the one above (pic below) about a year and a half ago for a girl at work and she says it is still going strong, despite the abrasion from the keys. I'm guessing as long as the metal (or any hard material) is not rubbing against the fabric aggressively it holds up relatively well. I'm thinking it might be a nice candidate as a liner for a coin case. But like you said I don't think its a good idea for a fixed knife.

Thanks for your help again everyone :)

I was gonna ask about the durability for the sheath too but Paul beat me to it. I do really like it for your other uses thigh . Nice work too by the way. I like the fabric lining contrast with the darker leather.

Thank you very much Dave! I've only tried black leather so far but I am hoping to try tan leather against an azure based lining as well. I've got much to learn about colour matching but hopefully I will have more to show soon :)
