I put in an order about a week and a half ago with Knife & Supply Company, LLC. They had a Yahoo! store and a decent price, so I ordered. I got an email back from them stating that they would ship in 4-6 weeks. I knew the knife was backordered, but DAYUM! Well, they underpromised and overdelivered, so I may buy my next knife from them as well.
Here it is. Sharp and clean, brand-new from Kershaw. This is a replacement knife for a CRKT M-16 that I gave to a friend who was moving back to Florida from California. It was my EDC for years and I kept it sharp with my Spyderco Sharpmaker, and it did the job for me.
This knife is perfect for my needs. It is easier to get a grip on than the CRKT was by a long shot. Whatever the material is that they make the grip out of is just fantastic. The flipper opens the knife reliably without me flipping my wrist. When the blade opens to its full extent and locks in, it doesn't make a CLANK or a CHINK sound like the CRKT, it makes more of a SNICK sound or a SNACK sound. It doesn't look so tactical and scary, it's a pretty friendly looking knife on the outside. I don't think this one will freak people out so much as the CRKT one did.
My hand fits the handle very well. Much better than the CRKT. There is a definite way that my hand wraps around the handle. It is very comfortable and firm.
Kershaw knives are made in the US, as far as I know. I don't have anything against the Taiwanese, I'm sure they're wonderful people. Nevertheless, I prefer to buy American made products. I'm a Nationalist and would prefer to support my local businesses.
The blade on my knife has "First Production 1 of 500" inked on the side. Does that mean that my knife was one of the first 500 produced? I am not planning on putting this one on the shelf, I want to cut stuff with it. That's why I bought a knife. Nevertheless, it's interesting to me to know.
Everything I cut with it felt like butter under the blade. I am more than happy with it and I'm planning on recommending it to anyone who enjoys high quality knives.
Thank you Kershaw, you have done a fantastic job with this knife and I am a very happy new customer of yours.
