I sent my Phat Bob back to Kabar for repair because it had some play in the lock. They sent it back and said it was normal for the locking liner to flex a little. It's funny none of my other liner locks do this. I was disappointed to say the least. But I guess it is what it is. Undecided if I will purchase any more Kabars in the future unless they are Beckers.:(
 
Damn, brother, I hate that.

My Phatty locks up like a tank tread. Email me some pics of it if you could.

Mine locks up super tight too. That's the main thing I check with a liner lock. I'm sure it won't actually affect the performance of the knife, but like you, I like that solid feeling. Weird that they wouldn't take care of that for you.
 
Update!!! Got my D2 phatty in the mail and I love it! Thanks to the gentleman that took care of that for me. This knife is tight as a tank, solid and sharp , just like I like them to be. This one will be with me for a long time.
 
got mine in the mail saturday. came pre-scratched/scuffed. blade is rubbing against liner. huge disappointment. I really like this knife.

was in the process of moving and didn't have an opportunity to respond. Got it from GPK.

The Phat Bob is my 6th Ka-Bar and the 1st time I ever had a problem w/ one of their knives.
Will be sending it back to them next week. In addition to the previously mentioned problem,
mine also has play when locked up. I'm hoping they'll simply swap it out and set me straight.
This little hiccup hasn't discouraged me from purchasing another Ka-Bar in the future.
 
That's disappointing, man. Hope you get a good replacement one soon.
