So, I hadn't ever heard of the Kershaw Crown but I had seen a couple pictures of it. It didn't seem like a very popular knife. I didn't hear very good things about it. Then, I watched a YouTube video from X4CTO about a new one he purchased, and while I was at Wally World today I decided to pick one up. For the price, what could it hurt? There is also a black model, but for some reason I liked the blue. The knife is great so far. I put a stupid sharp edge on it very easily, not that it didn't come shaving sharp already. I've heard some bad things about the Crown, but this one is pretty great for the price I paid. Here we go. Sorry, I should have polished the knife up and made it look pretty. Oh well, it'll be a beater anyways.

Looks classy, huh?

Blade centering is pretty perfect. I know it looks a little off in the picture, but it's not. I think it looks that way due to the fact the iPhone camera is in the top right corner of the phone. No blade play, at all.

I heard that most of these Crowns came from the factory with the bolsters seperating from the liners or coming off. I did notice that this was true as I searched through about 15 of these Crowns as Wally World. A good majority of them had the right side(in the pic) bolster starting to seperate from the liner. I found a few that were great though.

I think this knife will play the role of gentlemen's knife/sheeple-friendly. It looks real smooth and classy. Some places I go, my PM2 and 0301 just aren't appropriate to whip out.

Thanks for reading, guys. I figured I'd just post up some pictures and give a few of my thoughts on this very affordable knife. What do you guys think? Is the Crown worth the $10-15 bucks? My opinion is that yes, it's very much worth it.

From my little experience these are very much worth the $10. The couple I have also have some minor gaps around the micarta. The blades are extremely sharp and these feel like quality knives in the hand. Mine don't see much use because I love the Skylines so much and it's much smaller and lighter for not much more. The wifey loves hers and doesn't like textured G10 handles. She hates the Skyline and can't understand my extreme love for it. She doesn't have much to cut though and works around a 3 Tesla magnet so I don't think hers gets much use. I can't therefore comment on edge holding or long term use.

Like RTfact pointed out, there is already a thread for this (which I have already commented on).

Like I said there, it isn't a bad knife, but I wouldn't use it as my EDC. For the price, you can't beat it, but the materials and design just don't make me lean towards using it for EDC purposes. The steel doesn't attain or hold an edge as well as most other steels, although it isn't the worst choice out there.

I also don't like how I'm not able to adjust the pivot point. I've tried everything from tape, to rubber bands, to Locktite, but the back side just spins making the pivot point un-adjustable (is that the proper terminology?). Any blade play I get is going to be there forever. The blade also isn't centered on my knife and I can't adjust that due to this issue.

The pocket clip can't be moved, only REmoved (which leaves a weird space at the bottom of the knife), so it annoys me in that aspect.

As a work knife, it's amazing. For the price, it's even more amazing. I just can't carry it as an EDC. Like oregonknifenerd said, I'm MUCH more attached to my Skylines. They're simple, easy to maintain (like the Crown), and provide better materials and designs for what I need in an EDC knife.

I can understand the materials thing. The knife is rather smooth and not grippy at all, but I could use this knife in the "gentlemen's" purpose and it would excel I think. The pivot pin is another thing I can agree with you on. I do believe it should atleast have a way to adjust it.

Though, as knife lovers, I do believe we have become "spoiled". We expect all these additions to a knife, no matter the caliber, yet these additions weren't always offered on knives nor are they needed. Like strawberries on pancakes, not needed but you love 'em. I'm just saying you can't expect a 4-way position pocket clip on a $10 knife. Yes, I've seen it, but you just can't expect it from all of them which is why I didn't have a problem with the clip on the Crown. What makes it even better, it came right-hand tip-up which is my prefered method of carry anyways.:D It does kind of suck that your blade isn't centered because mine is perfect, but again this is just another little extra. An off-center blade doesn't effect the ability of the knife, unless of course it's to the point of rubbing against the liners.

I see there is some love for the Crown, and no it's not going to ever take the place of the Skyline, but then again it's also $20-25 bucks cheaper than the Skyline. It's still a fine example of the great work Kershaw puts out, for any customer. Rich or poor. Young or old.

I did not realize that the blade can not be adjusted for when it gets loose...That will be an issue for me when it gets loose.....Otherwise it is a great knife!

Nice knife for the money. Bought one now it sits in the drawer. The handles are slick as snot.

Honestly, the little knife is really growing on me. The place I'm working at at the moment is slam-packed with sheeple. This knife has kicked the PM2 and 0301 out of my pocket for now. I agree about the scales being slick as snot, but I don't use it for any hard use tasks so it works fine for the easy stuff.

I bought two of these Crown knives. Nice knife. Only paid $10.00 each. I did not know it had G-10 handle. now I likey even more.

It's a great knife to throw in a toolbox or a tacklebox or leave in the garage. Great for when you need something sharp and don't have to worry about damaging the knife, or losing it, or getting it wet etc.

I think it's micarta, man. Some people say G10, some say micarta. I'm pretty sure mine, WallyWorld model, has micarta. The black version may be G10.
