There are a lot of great knives out there, but only a few of them where the design really stands out as something groundbreaking. Not "I like this one knife b/c it fits my hand best" or "I really dig the way the blade looks" but "whoa, that's new and really practical!" So far I can think of 4 to nominate:

Sebenza - hey, a frame lock, great idea!

Spyderco/Perrin Street Bowie - I am always amazed at how much useful blade (5") is contained in such a small slim package, and how comfortable and solid the grip is on what appears to be an oddly-shaped handle.

Boker Magnum Trace - that Chad fellow (Baneulos?) is amazing! Again so much blade in such a small package, with a frame-lock to make it sturdy, great ergos in forward or reverse grip, & without a clip it's so thin it's practically a wallet knife. The blade shape makes a great cutter yet still plenty pointy - it could be used very hard in an emergency & it might not survive but hey it's $25! There have been many other small knives before it, but they were "little" knives - this is a big knife that's somehow small.

Perrin LaGriffe/Frontsight HAK - I give props to Perrin for popularizing the ring-knife and more props to Frontsight for making it smaller and more versatile.

What say y'all?
