Anyone recognize this makers mark? It is on a 9" long convex ground bowie knife. Knife has stainless steel blade catcher guard and stainless pommel. Black oak handle, blade catcher teeth on spine of blade. Knife was procured during a trade at the Great Falls, Montana gun show by a friend who wants me to make a sheath for it. Any info on the maker would be appreciated. thanks, Clint

I don't recognize that mark Clint, but maybe if you also post the knife it might help identify the maker.

I don't recognize that mark but man, you posted one crappy little pic! :D
Maybe this one will help,

My apologies on the poor pictures! I'm still learning the in's and out's of this computer/scanner gig, and it took me an hour to get this far!

The knife looks like the ones that were sold in display cases originally by the Franklin Mint as copies of a famous bowie knife.I don't remember which one. The price was lots more than the apparent quality of the knife could justify.

Here is a picture that has been lightened up a bit, Maybe someone will recognize the knife a little easier now. Then again, maybe not.

Thanks for trying to fix up my pic. for me, Keith. And no, this isn't a Franklin Mint knife. The guard and pommel were machined, but the blade is hand-ground. It is overall quite heavy duty, with good fit and finish.

Your right on with the "Bart Moore" Bowie thing, as this one is almost identical by looks of the pic that Kieth posted. J. Bowie is also inscribed on this one. Who is Bart Moore, and is there any significance to him or his Bowie?

o.k., I got off my butt and did a search on Bart Moore, and got the picture now. Apparently ther is a maker named Ben Lane in North Little Rock, Arkansas that makes replicas, so I'll start there. Thanks very much to all that took the time to help me out with this. Clint
