Recognize this stamp?

I recently acquired this axe. I can’t quite make out the stamp. Any thoughts? It’s a Jersey pattern head.

You found yourself a beauty!

Have you more pictures to share?

I took a few more photos after cleaning it up. I just used a little Elbow grease and a brass brush so as not to strip any metal.

The handle will likely need to be replaced before much service. It was loose after splitting a few small logs.

it has such a great feel to it. Happy for my new axe.

Hi there. Looks great.
One thing. Please do not cut the handle off!

You have plenty of tongue to work with. Try resetting it or carefully removing the wedge and metal step wedges and simply rehang it.

If you look thru this thread, what did you rehang, you will find some amazing handle salvage work, rehangs and techniques for wedge removal, rehanging, awesome wedge work and handle salvaging.

Save the Handle

Thanks for that encouragement. I was just telling my neighbor, “I really don’t want to put on a new handle”. I have done it on several other axes but I was really going to try to just “rehang” this one. I will let you know.
