Recognize this worn makers mark?

Found an old hatchet and gave it a new handle/cleaned up the head. Didnt realise it was forged until I got rid of sthe rust and saw the forgeweld. The mark seems to say "HOB..." something. Really can't tell what the next letter is- could be a small "R" or "B", and the next I only THINK looks like an "S". I'll post the whole thing if anyone wants to take a look.

Hobbs Gold Medal London, ON is what the stamp would read.
Not much info out there but the popular opinion is that they were made by a well known axe manufacturer such as Kelly for Hobbs Hardware...

There was an axe making center nearby in St. Catherines, ON. Canadian-Warren Axe & Tool Company Limited and Welland Vale MFG. CO. both had factories there.
