Recoloring a blade

I took my new non-serrated Benchmade Griptilian in D2 steel which has a black coating on it and just couldn't leave well enough alone.

I wanted to sharpen it to 30 degrees using my Edge Pro so I decided to speed up the reprofiling process (to a little less than 30) using my gritted cardboard wheel. It did a fine job, except that it made a mess of the black coating (due to my haste). The coating was removed in a very haphazard way all over the lower half of the blade.

My question is, would there be some way of reblackening the blade? Possibly spraying it with something like Matte Black Rustoleum paint? Or maybe it would be best to leave well enough alone.

I don't think that normal paint will hold up well. If it's that bad, I'd take it all off.

It would be pretty cool if you got it powder coated. ;)

Ask someone to sandblast the blade (very inexpensive) and be done with it if you can't stand the scratches. Regular paint won't do the trick.
