Recomendations for a first leatherman

I've been on the forums for 8 years, have all kinds of knives, mostly Buck and Case and I do have some saks, but I have never owned a pocket tool, leatherman, multi tool.............. guess I don't even know the correct terminology. The other day while I was unhooking a fish that swallowed a hook, something clicked and I wondered why I have never tried one. From what I've been looking up, maybe a squirt, juice or wingman?
I like the idea of being able to throw it in my pocket like a squirt or juice or at least a pocket clip like the wingman? Kind of like the idea of red or orange so I don't lose it fishing. Would appreciate some suggestions!

I have three Leathermans, a Wave, Juice Pro, and another model that's in a vehicle at the other house. Of the three, the Wave is the one. Mine is not the Wave+ but it's very comfortable to use with locking blades and rounded edges on the handle. It could easily replace carrying a knife if one were so inclined.

I’ve owned many Leathermans over the years and still own several. The Squirt is perfect if you’re looking for bottom of the pocket carry like an old Case or Buck knife. I find the Juice just a tad large for bottom of the pocket carry and sold mine promptly. The Wingman / Sidekick series are great having the pocket clips and are a full size tool yet still pretty thin making them about as easy to carry as an average size ZT pocket clip knife. For me it would depend on exactly how you are wanting to carry. The Squirt is very small yet it’s a quite capable tool and will surprise you at what task it can accomplish. But as I said it’s a bottom of the pocket carry tool. The Wingman / Sidekicks are capable of much larger task but too big for bottom of the pocket carry (for me anyway). If you like pocket clip knives then I would go with a Wingman or Sidekick.

My first was a Rebar, which I like very much. It’s hefty though, I got a custom leather wet molded sheath for it.

My favorite is the original Leatherman Tool (original sheath) which I carry most of the time now. It’s thinner and lighter, and still packs all the stuff I need.

The squirt is great and would serve you well.
If you want a regular sized leatherman I would buy an original PST off Ebay.
They are much more compact, slim, and pocketable than anything else made today. You should be able to find a nice example for under $30.
Of course if you like orange you could look in the Juice, but I believe they were recently discontinued and I dont know what the availability on them is.

The wingman is probably a good choice, never had one and dont plan to but it's obviously been a successful affordable model for a reason.

I have a Wingman and specifically chose it for the clip. I didn't carry if so much as had it clipped to a seat pouch for easy access.
I like it so much I finally gave my son my old Wave.

I carry a pst or rebar in my back pocket and hardly know it there until I need it. I have an smaller full sized one I can send you. If you like it it’s yours if not you can pass it along to someone else. You can post your email on this thread and I’ll email you then you can delete it.

I personally love the squirt. I have had a wave, rebar, st300, wingman, sidekick, and skeletool. The squirt is very capable. The skeletool is also pretty good. You can get both in different colors.

I sure appreciate it! I'm sure I will carry it.
Great I sent you an email so you can delete it if you want. I also have a sheath if you want one either leather or Nylon don’t worry about not being able to reply have a great weekend.
