Recomendations for computer telephone headset

I have been using my netbook as a phone. Looking for a good and hopefully inexpensive (under $30) set of headphones. Need to have mike and volume control. Is there any difference between usb head phones and regular plugins?
 
The USB headsets have a built in sound processor (in most cases). Sennheiser makes some really good headsets. There are some that go for around $35-$40 online. i've had a pair since 2003 and they are awesome. There is no mic control on these though, that can easily be controlled through the computers sosund settings.
