i am looking for a legal size folder 3" with preferably s30v. Not too bulky, and overall great feal. What are your opinions?

Dodo? It's a little wide in the pocket, but it meets most other requirements. The Dragonfly is another, but I think it's in Aus8(?). Just go check out the Spyderco site. There's a lot. Short blades with great ergos is one of the things Spyderco is known for(the "little big knives").

The Native is 3" blade with S30V for a decent price. If you are looking to spend more the Lil' Temperance or Paramilitary would be a good way to go. The Yojimbo is also approx 3" and S30V if you want a more self-defense type knife.

I liked my Paramilitary a lot, I just do not like 14mm holes myself, but it seems that I am in the minority on that :(

Actually, in MI, the 3" limit only applies to carry with "unlawful intent", whatever the hell that means. I mean, carrying a 2.9" knife with "unlawful intent" is still illegal isn't it? I'm guessing the length is there so they can tack on more charges for certain situations, like robbing a house with a bigger knife (even if the knife isn't used). Yet another state in the long list of vague, confusing weapons laws.

So you could assume that a bigger knife is OK to carry as long as you're not doing anything unlawful with it. In which case I'd suggest a Paramilitary.

It's perfectly understandable if you still want a sub 3" knife (better safe than sorry, right?), but unfortunately sub 3" SPydercos with S30V aren't very pleantyful. The Native blade is 3 1/8" long (although quite a bit of that is ricasso/choil). There's the Dodo, but this isn't exactly a traditional looking knife, and might not suit your tastes/needs. There's also the Yojimbo, but again, this isn't a "normal" knife either. Take a look at them though, you might like them.

If you open your steel requirement up to include VG-10, your choices increase tenfold. There's the Delica, Calypso Jr (a favorite on this forum), Kopa, Spur, Progrip, Viele II, and countless discontinued models under 3". S30V is the current FotM supersteel, which can cause people (and consequently makers/manufacturers) to forget about "lesser" steels which are still great. VG-10 is an excellent steel, in fact some prefer it over S30V for it's biting edge and ease of sharpening. I love VG-10. If you can't get the Spyderco you want in S30V, but get one in VG-10, don't consider this "settling". You won't be dissappointed in it.

i already own severl spydercos in vg10, and love it. I just made the decision to order the yojimbo last week as well. The main reason i asked is because i have only delt with a few knives w/ s30v and im quite impressed. I think eventually i will pick up a dodo as well. Im not new to spyderco or anything, been collecting for a while, i mainly was currious to what others carried and if there was a discontinued model that i may not have been aware of. Thanks for the help.
