Recommend a Buck folder

I have plenty of fixed blade knives. I have seen some Bucks that look ok, but some I have owned in the past have not been great.

Is there a solid Buck folder out there that can compete with nice, but hard working folders? The 110 is not on my radar as I do not like hollow grinds or clip points.

What will be the use? There is a wide variety of folders; some are better at one thing, others are better at different jobs. If you want a flat grind some of the models that are no longer in production are still available.

Gunna have to recommend the Marksmen. Of course disregard this if it is not suitable to your tasks in mind.

The Marksman is a hell of a knife though. It is a very hardworking knife with a good lock. Hell they even call it the "strong-lock." It's not a clip point either. However I do not remember if it is hollow ground. I don't think it should be much of an issue even if it is.

Vantage Pro! My current EDC, or a Marksman if you want something really cool. You'll hardly believe they're a hollow ground blade.

If you're absolutely anti-hollow grind, you're going to struggle to find anything Buck that's not hollow.
Both Copper and Clad and Silver Knight have 110 and 112s with flat ground blades. Good steels too...

What's a thread without photos.
Vantage Pro on right.

I have a CSAR-T and it is an extremely rugged and tough knife. That knife is such a friggin tank it'll make a Strider blush. What comes with that is that it is an extremely bulky and heavy. Not very comfortable to carry.

My recommendation would be a 500 folder, it fits in a front pocket but is large enough to take care of a deer if necessary.

Copper&Clad and Silver Knights also offer exclusive Spitfire models in s30v and s35v respectively.

Just got two Buck folders recently and they grew to be some of my favorite folders.

My Buck 112 Ranger drop point in 5160 steel, probably the toughest folder I have, got mine in brass with charcoal dymondwood, also comes in oak and g10.

My Buck Vantage Pro 0347 Large in s30v steel and g10 scales is amazing and probably the best deal you can find for an american made folder in s30v.

Both can be found at Copper and Clad for under $60 each which is a steal!

Yep, Copper has another one he may like. Their version of a 112 with nickel frame, Micarta handles and drop point blade of S30V steel.
It comes with a leather sheath. A very good buy. I ordered mine last week.
Also, consider the 500. A thinner handle and a different blade style. Both have been in Buck's lineup since the 70's. They are solid performers
and can be found with up grade steels. DM

Thanks for all the recommendations. I'm look at them all.

As far as use, I'm really just looking for something to add to my camping hunting pack as a backup to a fixed blade.

I got an Ascend LT (only available from Walmart, I think.) Pretty cool looking Buck and it seems sturdy to me.

+1 on the 715 ascend. Had one and really liked it a lot. Gave it to my cousin when I uograded to a vantage pro and I regret it. Slim, light, made in USA, solid steel, and just great build quality. I'll get another soon.
