Budget is $100 or less. Used to skin and clean various game including deer, duck, turkey, etc.

Any suggestions? I tried the search function, but it wouldn't work.

Thanks,
Scott

$100 can go a long way dependng on what you like.

A good little knife with a very good carbon steel blade is the Schrade Old Timer "Sharpfinger". You can buy this at Walmart for under $25.00. It's not fancy but it outperforms many $100 knives.

Again, not very pretty but awsome performer is the Cold Steel Master Hunter for around $60.00

A bit nicer looking but good in peformance is the Benchmade "Outbounder" for $100.00

I'd recommend searching thru "www.eknifeworks.com" on-line cataloge, pick 5 knives you think you might like and we'll tell you about our experiences with those knives.

Happy shopping,

I agree with collector's comments. I have used a Schrade Sharpfinger (mostly small game) and Cold Steel Master Hunter (deer) with complete satisfaction. My only gripe about my Schrade is the loose sheath, but a kydex replacement sheath is a simple solution.
Having said that, since discovering this forum, the search for "what's best" is half the fun.
Good luck.

Buck makes a good line of hunters, both fixed and folding.
Vangard,rubber handle-44.95 Basspro
Vangard rubber handle,ATS34- 64.95 Basspro
110 29.95 Wal-Mart
Alpha rubber handle fixed or folding 49.95 Wal-Mart
Alphas in ATS 34 around 70-75 most on line stores.
just a start.

If the largest game that you need to process is deer then you want a knife that is a little short and a little narrow--to get into some of the nooks and crannies of the smaller game. The Sharpfinger is one of the knives that fits the bill. I would look at agrussell.com at the Deer Hunter or Bird & Trout model with VG-10 or D2 alloy blades. These will work better than the Buck Vanguard or Cold Steel Master Hunter for game that is smaller than deer-sized.
