Hi Good People,

Long time lurker, new poster.

I am looking to get a new fixed blade for daily carry as a Park Ranger. I was going to get a Svord 310bb but I have one of their Kiwi General Outdoors knife in the same steel which is less stain resistant than I would prefer.

I am liking the traditional timber handle/ brass finger guard/drop point, and slicey 2.4mm thickness. Blade length at 4" is about all I need too.

Although a bit different style, the Falkniven F1, Cold Steel Hunter, Buck 692 were on my short list until I realised how thick they were.

Currently using a Bucklite MAX II Small which has done the job fine but I want to upgrade to a new knife - i know I don't have to explain!

Wondering if you could share anything which might fit those descriptions. Cheers!

What part of the World are you in, your bio doesn't say???

Budget?

Stainless?

Do you know how to sharpen a knife?

Welcome!

Let's start with those links. Somewhere in the rules is a list of dealers who are also Bladeforums members. If a website isn't on that list, you shouldn't link to it. Not trying to be That Guy, just trying to keep others out of trouble, if I can.

So, thin, stainless drop points with 4" blades and wood and brass seem to be the way to go.

Hmm. Lionsteel makes some fixed blades that might be too thick for your liking, but fine, otherwise.

If you're willing to skip the traditional furniture, Spyderco is the easy answer for thin stainless blades.

Hi Crag,

I am in Aus. Budget is $400AUD. Yes i sharpen my own knives, at least to an adequate standard! Stainless is preferred due to the nature of use, always humid, and sometimes marine environment.

Thanks for your advice Shorttime, I will be sure to take that on board, I've updated my original post. Glad to support fellow members.

I did some conversions to help some people....

2.4 mm is .094" thick (nice and slicey)
4" is still four inches....:)
400AUS dollars is $250 US dollars.

I'm pretty sure you might find some Makers here who could help you. I'll dig through my thin, stainless stash of hardened blanks....to see what I got

Also David Mary David Mary would be good to look at, too
