What Randall would you recommend for general bushcraft uses? o1 or stainless? 4-5" blade length would be used for fire prep, camp chores, butchering med to large game
Thanks

I wanted one for similar uses , and I opted for a #15 full tang single hilt border patrol handle, should be receiving it this month so I can't comment on how I like it yet

I used a model 3 quite a bit. I like my model 7 too, thinner blade for field dressing game. Model 3 is a tougher knife but the edge is a bit thick cutting up fish and deer. And then you have a model 5, 11, 23, 19, 27, 28, and on & on.

I would say stay away from 0-1, even when the lower price is tempting. Their stainless holds an edge at least slightly better, and 0-1 rusts if you think about water...

For a small bush-craft/task knife, thinner stock is better. Look at models with 3/16” rather than 1/4” stock.

The models I’ve used for feather sticks, camp kitchen, dressing game, carving, are the # 7 Fisherman-Hunter and the # 26 Pathfinder.
