IMO? I think you'll get more bang for your buck if you stop by at a Marshalls/TJMaxx and search out a good Victorinox/Swiss Army messenger bag.

countycomm.com has some decent budget bags. Not sure what you consider compact tho.

EOD utility bag

2 sizes of bail out bags

rei-outlet has some fanny type packs, day packs, or small backpacks that might suit your needs too.

If you are looking for imitation maxpedition stuff in the $30 range, I'm not aware of a great selection. The Maratec stuff from countycomm is probably the best that I know of. I'm sure others will chime in.

Thanks guys ! I want to carry a flashlight, folder knife , cell, pen, notebook, camera, keys and my monocular

For 13 dollars... Looks good I guess :)

I also have a SWAT backpack so it fits well

Yes, I have SWAT ambitions :)

Duluth Trading or Eddie Bauer messenger bag - both decent quality & price, fairly rugged, and DT has a great return ploicy if it falls apart on you.

definitly go to countycomm and check out the EOD bag. Just got it myself and should fit your need perfectly. also has molle adaption on the outside to attach things too.

It's a little more than your budget but look into the Maxpedition Active Shooter Bag. I have one coming friday and I'll post a review. But it looks promising as an EDC shoulder bag.

Wow, now that is NICE.
This forum is tearing my wallet apart haha...

Yeah, I got tons of velrco backed pouches and stuff I should be able to set it up however I want. I'm glad someone made a modular shoulder bag finally. I hate buying a bag, and not being able to use it's space 100% efficiently. I'm hoping this will outdo my colossus versapack and yet be smaller somehow. I like the removable waiste belt as well. I'm hoping I can find a way to rig the waiste belt so that in a pinch it could become a small make shift backpack as well to get it away from my side if need be. After I get it and beat it around this weekend, I'll try to write up a review in the forum on it. But at $70.00, it's got promise to be one of Maxpedition's most affordable and most verstile pieces of gear so far.
