I'm interested in getting one of these flippers.

The two I want to compare are the upgraded versions of the two knives. They come in around the same price. I prefer the overall look of the Swindle. I also prefer the blade shape as I don't have a wharncliffe. I'm not sold on how the ergonomics will be on the Swindle as it has the swayback, though I would not be using hard so won't be a total deal breaker. The clip on the Swindle also isn't the top choice. Not sure on the difference between the steels, and I know that Taiwan probably produces better products than China. Here are some basic specs for you. Photos courtesy of BladeHQ

CRKT Swindle:
Steel: 12C27 Sandvik
Blade Length: 3.25"
Weight: 3.95 oz
Blade Shape: Modified Wharncliffe
Lock: Framelock
Country: China

CRKT Ripple:
Steel: Acuto +
Blade Length: 3.125"
Weight: 3.0 oz
Blade Shape: Drop Point
Lock: Framelock
Country: Taiwan

for pure flipper fun, which would you chose? Other options in the same price range are welcome to join the discussion.

I have both. Prefer the Ripple. I actually like the Ripple so much I almost invested in the midtech one, but couldn't justify the added cost. Both flip great.

I had the Swindle and gave it away. Its ergos aren't great and I didnt like the pocket clip. Its design doesn't let it sit normal in the pocket. It did flip nice though.

I have both, they both flip great but as mentioned already the ergos of the Swindle are awful. Also, the pocket clip seems to work completely the opposite of how it's intended to work. I still carry my Ripple from time to time, and I never carry the Swindle.

Never handled a swindle, however the ripple is a pretty nice knife. One of the few crkt products that I like

They are fairly different knives, I'm not sure if it is really a fair comparison. The Ripple is more of a general folding knife, while the Swindle is designed as an interpretation of a Swayback patterned traditional.

I have both, too. They're really different. The swindle feels a lot sturdier and has a stronger detent. Pretty smooth. The ripple feels so lightweight the flip hardly registers. And it's a lot quieter. There's a nice "snick" when it opens. I'll probably get the aluminum one just to have it. Currently have the blue one. The clip on the swindle is a neat design but it just doesn't work. The perpendicular angle makes it twist in the pocket.
