Hello from Norway. New member here!

I'm looking for a good quality, good looking assisted folder in the price range up to 60 $ (i can buy a used knife, no problem)

How is the SOG Flash II?

What's your advice?

The blade must be plain.

Thank you,
Mathias.

I have a Kershaw Packrat 1665ST. I love it. It features Speedsafe. I bought mine on Amazon a few months ago for ~$50.

Kershaw Leek
Kershaw Blur

Also I Would Take A Look At Kershawguy.com

He Has Leek Blems Starting At $25
He Has Blur Blems Starting At $35
And He Has A Turbulence Blem For $55
And A Rake(One Of My Favorites) Blem For $59

Welcome Mathias, I have a flash 2, it's an ok knife. they have blade play, and my clip on it seems like it will fall off at any time. I don't have any kershaw's/ZT's in that price range so I have nothing to recommend. closest I have is the ZT350. I just wanted to let you know my take on the Flash 2. Good luck with the hunt!

Thank you guys! I will go for a Kershaw knife, but i wonder which..

I must say that i like the way the Blur opens, and i'm not that keen on the Speedsafe method that the Packrat, leek, turbulence and rake uses.

What do you guys think about the way the Blur opens vs the Speedsafe? Thanks!

I already love this forum. :)

I have the Kershaw Volt. For just over $25.00US it is a great knife. The SpeedSafe system for great. I was surprised at how fast my Volt opens.
I have also owned a Flash 2 and found it to be a nice knife...it did the job for the price.
I'll not recommend a particular Kershaw model. That is up to the individual. There are so many different blade styles in the price range you want to spend.
I always recommend buying the knife, bike, etc. that puts the biggest smile on your face when you are shopping. You will enjoy it and use it more.

Welcome to BF
I agree with BladeChick. Kershaw Guy has a good selection and great to deal with. My two favorites are Kershaw Cyclone and Kershaw Whirlwind.

Take a look at the Kershaw Shallot. I just got mine in the mail today and I love it. :D

I'll actually recommend the crkt ignitor. Great looks, very fast opening, and i really like the firesafe feature as well.

Blur's clip is right-hand-only, adjustable for tip up/tip down though.

If you liked SOG, the Twitch II is fast and ambidextrous.

Also, may I ask why you want assisted instead of manual?

I haven't owned a assisted folder before, so i want to try something new, and not another manual folder :)

How does the SpeedSafe technology from Kershaw work for lefties?

Kershaw is your best option for assisted opening. Unfortunately, the assisted opener doesn't lend itself well to ambidextrous locks, so you'd be stuck with a righty frame or liner lock. If you want something fast like an assisted opener, but ambidextrous, try looking for something with an axis lock. You should be able to get a mini grip for within your price range if you're lucky.

I would recommend either a Kershaw Leek or a Kershaw Blur. Both are excellent knives.

I have a Flash II , if you like the SOG design, I'd recommend buying the aluminum version over the plastic model, it's a much better knife. The clip is reversible for left handed carry and I'm pretty sure the thumb studs are ambidextrous too. But the lock release is located on one side only.

The Kershaw Speed safe system is very good too, but the opening speed varies by model. Some are faster than others.

Of the Kershaw models I own, the larger ones seem to be slower. On the plus side , most Kershaw designs can be user serviced ( if you want to ) and Kershaw is known for just sending out new torsion bars if you ask.

I'll go through my A/O knives after I get home from work and see which models are ambidextrous.
