My search has come up short. I would like a double edged dagger or stiletto that has a leather sheath. Something to slide into a boot. Strictly below 5.5 inches; the closer to the better. Prefer a decent steel. Nothing from China or Pakistan please. Prefer the $100 - $200 range. I would entertain up to $300

Just to be clear, 5.5" blade right?
Or a 5.5" overall? You could want a 2+" blade and 3" handle and be in neck knife territory.

My first thought is use one of our fantastic knife makers on the forum and get exactly want you want. Sheath included.

Here is a link as an example.

Maybe ask for an upgrade in blade steel, shorter blade, and do a simpler handle + sheath?

You can always PM/email a maker and have him/her give you an estimate on what you want. I've bought 3 knives from makers here and it was an awesome experience. I do more if I had more money.

Or maybe see if a maker will do their version of a simple boot knife to your overall specs. Linked from BHQ for reference.

Hey there, new to bladeforums. Looking for a boot dagger? Tekna makes a good 7.25" O/A dagger. The sheath is abs but it fits very comfortably in a boot and holds the knife very well. Knifecenter.com sells them for ~$70-$75 including tax/shipping. The steel is either 420hc or 425s. Both are decent steels.

with that budget, contact a bf maker, I'm sure many of them would set you up...

or you can get this amazing quality 52100 5" boot knife from cold steel for like $40... and have a fancy leather sheath made to spec for it from a bf leather maker

I'd go with an AG Russell Sting 3 (or an older model.) I think all they have in stock is the Stag version for $200-ish.

Avoid the CRKT 2020 as it's IMO, a crude POS, though the discontinued CRKT Sting 3B 2025 they also made was alright -except for the sheath.

The CRKT Sting 3B has a plastic sheath which is extremely efficient and functional. I have been wearing it in waist band since I've received it (three months ago ?). I see no way the knife, or even the sheath, could be called a POS. In my opinion, it's one of the most successful small EDCs ever designed.

I said the CRKT 2020 was "a crude POS" because it is. It's too heavy and poorly finished from the basic casting.

I said the 3b 2025 was "alright -except the sheath" as the sheath can lack retention. I like the 3b knife itself a lot as it's even lighter and thinner than the real Sting.

I get the feeling we are not talking about the same knife :

This is the CRKT Sting 3B 2020... One of the nicest (and lightest) EDC I have ever used (but with a plastic sheath, not what the OP is researching). I admit the earlier Stings (I, II and III) are way heavier, much nicer and have leather sheaths.
I currently cycle the above pictured 3B with a Sting II (first edition) :

Both work very well, do what I need and never fall into my pants (and that's very important). The original is heavier and the retention of the leather sheath is just OK. I really prefer the original but most of the time I carry the CRKT POS. Go figure...

The sting 3b has been discontinued unfortunately.
I bet it is still available on remaining stock from major retailers. I wouldn't miss out on such a nice knife. That is, if you can legally deal with what is considered a "dagger" in many areas.

It would be prudent to stop depending on and supporting China. We can't even make enough masks and medicine for our own people. Enough is enough. Bring manufacturing back.
You are right but you are way out of your shoes here. This is not the subject, at all...

And yes, the top knife is the one I am talking about... I know it was discontinued bc I was trying to get one myself.
