Yup, I said "fiddler" because I like to fiddle around with my blades when I'm sitting in my chair watching TV. I know I can't be the only one :)

So my requirements are:
-something that's fun to open with one hand (right hand)
-closeable with one hand too
-not too noisy. I want to avoid any youre-damn-knife-is-too-loud-so-stop-that-while-Im-watching-TV evil looks from the wife.
-did I mention it's gotta be fun?

What say you BladeForums?

Grab a balisong. Not by any means quiet but fun as hell. Your wife will just have to get used to the clacking. If all else fails grab a spyderco. Any model.

The benchmade 300SN Axis Flipper sounds perfect for you. Any flipper is fun to open and close, but in my experience, liner locks and frame locks can be noisy. Shouldn't have that problem with an axis lock

Have you seen the Fred Perrin production Tri-folders, mad by Max Knives in France ? They're very unique, and easy, and possibly quick to deploy, sorta like a butterfly knife in some ways. The price is around 30-40 bucks.

I agree with Evan on the IKBS flipper. A cheap option is the CRKT Ripple.

I also have to agree with the suggestions of an Axis lock knife. The 550HG Griptilian is extra fun because you have different ways of flipping it open with the thumbhole; you can use your thumb, index finger, middle finger, upside down with the ring finger, and of course you can always flick it open and closed by just using the Axis lock. All of this (except the Axis lock) applies for the Spyderco ParaMilitary 2 as well and you get to try the compression lock if you haven't already.

Obviously the ultimate fun "fiddler's knife" would be a balisong. You just have to put the time in in order to learn new tricks, but once you learn one you can practice practice practice while watching tv or on the computer and get good at it.

For those requirements I would recommend you pick up a larger flipper with a ball bearing pivot system. Since the larger blades have more weight to them they seem to flip better.

Depends on your price range but something like an ZT 0560 would be splendid good fun. Or a brous division flipper would be a great choice too!

My benchmade 51 is quite loud, as is my bear and sons balisong. If you get a Bradley Kimura and remove the latch, it doesnt make too much noise until you open or close it all the way and the handles hit the stop pins.
