Can you be a little more specific? Ideal length, intended usage?

And by "studs" - do you mean pins?

Studs-the things in handles that hold the scales , Length-a typical hunting knife length ,Usage-camping

Simple. BRKT.

Ding. As far as a good all-around design from what they are currently producing, I would look at the Canadian Special, Fox River, Gunny, Classic Drop Point Hunter.

All would be described as "typical hunting length" and are great for general camp use (as long as you don't define "general camp use" as using a knife for a hatchet...). And all have pinned scales and are available in a variety of nice woods. Much of the rest of it comes down to blade style preference and ergonomics, which are going to be fairly subjective. Personally, of those mentioned above, the Canadian is the one that gets the most use by far.

They are not inexpensive, but they are very well made, and if you take care of it, you'll probably be handing it down to someone else some day.

Look for this one just over half way down the page here: http://www.collectorknives.net/queen-knives.html

Leather sheath, D2 steel and nice maple burl for a very reasonable price.

Full tang Old Hickory knives start at under $10 each.

But I think what you want is a custom. ;)

Browse the For Sale by Maker section and I think you'll be surprised at the reasonable prices of many full tang, wooden handle hunting knives.

I'm sure your would be happy with BRKT, but if I were you, I'd also take a look at the knifemakers section. I've seen lots of very nice full tang fixed blades that I would surely define as traditional (Nessmuk's, Kephart's, and so on) at very reasonable prices.

BRKT has gotten a lot of flack for their grinding and HT recently on models like the Grasso Bolo. While I personally have never experienced that, I do feel like most of their models are somewhat overpriced relative to the other options available, especially the vast spectrum of custom makers here and elsewhere.

An easy choice, Bark River Knife & Tool...FoxRiver, one made for any size you would like. One of my favorite Barkies.

Haven't heard anything about that, but I can attest to owning a dozen Bark Rivers, in A2 and CPM3V, and the grinds have been excellent on every one of them, nor have there been any HT issues on a single one. I do believe that a different steel was chosen for the GBs (5160?), so maybe the feedback you've heard has something to do with that, though I haven't heard those complaints. But I wouldn't say that grind and/or HT issues are common on BRs, by any means. Production standards on all of mine have been top-notch and worth every penny, imo.

I respect your opinion and posts, and I'm glad you could bring some personal experience to the table as a counter to my info :) I did own one BRKT knife in A2 a few years back and I can say that it didn't appear to have any of the issues I mentioned, either.
