Recommend me a high-quality, small flipper

I love my Kershaw Skyline, but I don't like the cheap metal blade and liners. Can anyone recommend me a fast, small flipper with better quality? It has to be small. (Not hating on the Skyline, I know it's a great knife. I own it. But it's developing rust spots all over the blade and liners in a curiously pot-metal-like way)

If your "Sandvik Steel" is showing signs of rust, it is because of the "Carbon" in the steel, (generally, carbon is the thing that makes "steel" better).

If you want a steel that will resist rust better, you may have to actually consider a "Lesser" steel. ??

You mean like M390 which has way more carbon and has fantastic stain resistance? Or S90V which has 2.3%. Both of which are superior to the Sandvik in the Skyline.

Its all about that free chromium. Carbon is fine as long as it doesn't use up all the chromium in the steel to form chromium carbides. D2 is a good example of too much chromium being used for carbides leaving the steel vulnerable to rust.

AG Russell Skorpion is an interesting design if you don't mind the 8cr blade. There's also the CRKT Ripples with better steel and very fast action. They both come in 2 sizes and I think the larger sizes are pretty close to the skyline if you were looking to replace it with something similar.

Personally, the best little flipper is the Ken Onion designed CRKT Eros K455TXP with a sharp 3" Acuto+ blade, titanium handle and weighing in at just 1.4 ounces.

I have to agree here. The CRKT Eros is a great little knife. Very light, quick operating flipper, great gents knife. Another CRKT Flipper that uses that same IKBS bearing system is the CRKT Ripple. Not as light as the Eros, but a very nice knife nonetheless.

+1 on the Eros and SS Ripple. I have both and really like them. On the other hand, I'm not really sure how PREMIUM Acuto+ steel is.

Disregarding the controversy but the Microtech Mini-Matrix. I just let mine go since it was too small but I think you would like it.

They've both already been mentioned, but my first thoughts would be:

CRKT Ripple/Eros
A.G. Russell Skorpion
ZT 0770/0770cf

. . . but as also already asked, what constitutes small to you?

The ZT 0770 with Aluminum scales and the ZT 0770CF with Carbon Fiber scales haven't been released yet. They have a slightly longer 3.25" blade and weigh in at around 3-3.8 ounces depending on the scale. Both use Elmax and will come in way under the price of the similar looking Microtech Mini Matrix. I'm really looking forward to the 0770CF.

There is a small J.B. Blount in the Trade section right now. Super knife; about the size of a small Sebenza.
Wish my hands were smaller.

+1 for the CRKT Ripple. IKBS is very smooth and even the Walmart version (~ $30) feels solid.
