All right, I've now pocketed a few different knives and styles that I think I know what I'm looking for.

It's gotta be small, thin, light, yet with a main blade big enough for me.

Heres what I think I'm looking for:

A traditional with 2 blades on a single spring, maximum closed size of 3", largest blade minimum length 2".

Any thoughts?

Case makes several dandy little pen knives. The mini copperhead, #87, and #83 would probably all take care of your wishes. One's a copperhead, one is a round bolster pen, and the other is a square bolster pen. At least those I've seen.

Might want to take a gander at these three as a start.

Not that easy with those specs. CASE Penknife and GEC Conductor are !st class single-springs but they're just over 3"

Have a look at Böker's Pen Knife in Bone, Stag,Wood. Then there's the Buck 309, tough yet light, not single-spring BUT as thin as a single spring. GEC's 26 qualifies too but it's a broad frame and thus not so light, a tough springed character though so mind out!

'cause single springs are magic! :)

At least they feel that way in the pocket to me, lol.

He's right you know! Single-spring keeps weight and bulk down, it also shows the quality of manufacture in getting minimal blade-rub and yet 1st class W&T.

Find a U.S.-made Schrade 104OT. Very nice little single-spring penknife with a wonderful grade of carbon steel.

<3" closed is pretty dang small, and limits your options. The new GEC $09 Esquire fits the bill, if you're OK with carbon steel blades.

Well, after a days research it looks like the case mini copperhead 3-1/8" closed and the Buck 309 lead the way. What's kind of frustrating to me is that everywhere I look, they list the case 2-5/8" closed pen style as having a 2-1/2" clip blade, which can't possibly be right.
