currently I have a BM mini griptilian, kershaw tanto blur, and a spyderco native but lately Ive been thinking about getting something "nicer" :D

I'm looking for something in the $130 range (give or take) that can be used without having to worry about scratching it or messing it up

I'm not EDC'ing it so length doesn't matter too much

I've narrowed it down to these but feel free a recommend others :)

Kershaw tyrade (is it worth the extra money?)
Kershaw spec bump
Kershaw damascus leek
ZT 0200
BM rukus/mini rukus
spyderco military/para military

I know you see this question all the time but please help :(
thanks everyone :)

thanks for the reply :)

I'll keep that one in mind when I go knife shopping :D

any other reccomendations from the list :p

Either one of these two, or both for that matter! The ZT0200 or the BM 610 Rukus. I have both and both are about as strong and tough as a production knife gets. Do a search on each one and you'll pull up a ton of information, with very little of it being negative.

how does the zt0200 compare to the jyd?

also is the new tyrade worth the money?

thanks :)

I really love the new Spyderco Military in CPM D-2. I also have, and EDC, a BM 610 Rukus in S30V. The BM 710 D2 was my EDC for several years, and it's one of the truly great knives. I have a Kershaw Blur in S30V, and it's one hell of a nice knife, although IMHO, it doesn't quite come up to the others mentioned.

I guess if I had to pick just one, it would be the Rukus. (full size)

Al Mar Mini Sere would fit the bill. Around $145 from online stores. Vg-10 with g-10 scales. It's a real user, not one you keep locked up. Sharp as a razor, with al ock-up that clicks nice and pretty. When you hear that baby lock, and feel how tight that blade is, you will be very happy. The feel of that knife in your hand is thing of beauty.

You really recommend the Military?
Why wouldn't he? It's a classic, no-nonsense cutting machine that has withstood the test of time with flying colors.

Nowhere else will you find that much slicing power in such a thin, light, sturdy package.

I think I my need one.

Well, if length doesn't matter much, then I reckon a little extra weight will not bother you much either, right?

Everyone should own at least one Buck 110....and if you only own one, it may as well be a Buck Custom Shoppe 110!

Here's the link:

They do great work for great prices....

Get either the big Benchmade Rukus or the Spyderco Manix, the Military is awesome too if you're ok with liner locks. Also check the Zero Tolerance folders out, they are much nicer than the standard Kershaws.

Of the knives you mentioned, I would go with Rukus/Mini Ruckus or Military/Paramilitary. I have a Paramilitary and it is just awesome. Carry it every day, it slices and cuts as well or better than any other knife I have used. Dont own a Rukus but that is one heavy duty knife, and the axis lock is great.

anyone have anything to say about the tyrade?

so far its between the tyrade(maybe) and the zt0200 but I'll make my final decision at the gun show :D

I have had a Buck 110 for 25 years. I bought a Buck 112 from a pal in High school, for $5 back in 1976. Nice knives

I have the tyrade. This is the best production knife i own.

fit and finish the best i have seen (But I do not own a sebe)
Handle ergo very good.
weight is high. this is a heavy folder.
the frame lock-up is like a vault.
The frame is two thich slabs to Ti.
The AO is very smooth
Blade design is very good

This is a very strong folder.

The only thing is the blade technology. It cpm d2 fused to cpm 154 i think. Very sharp but new technology and not proven.

You really recommend the Military? I have never had one in my hand, what type of lock, feel, balance, etc.
