Hey folks

Can someone recommend me some quality daggers please.

Budget $125 usd
Length 8 - 12 inch

Havnt done much looking, the ontario trench knife is appealing.

Cheers

Cold Steel has a few daggers, some are historical replicas and others are modern designs. A Peace Keeper I with San Mai III blade is within your budget.

Check the laws about importing double edged knives if you're going to buy it outside the UK. I remember having some troubles sending certain types of knives to customers in the UK a couple of years back.

Price is close but wrong size....but hard to not consider the applegate fairbarin boker fighting dagger.

Here are a few to start you off.

The PeaceKeeper comes in at 1/3" longer than the range you're looking at, and the smaller Counter Tac is a tiny bit shorter, but they're both quite close.

edit: Sorry about that. When I first read your post, I thought it said 7-12". I guess that would rule out the smaller Counter Tac and the Sting (a beautiful little dagger). :(

The classic Fairbairn Sykes Commando Knife is still made in the UK, is it not? To me, that is the definition of a modern dagger.

mil. spec dagger?

How critical is the 8 inch minimum? You have a bunch of options if your minimum is around 7 inches.

Zero Tolerance 0150.

Good one. For some reason I thought they were a bit pricier ($150-ish range maybe), so I didn't list it. Actually only in the $115 area.

Definitely. The 8" min. excludes a bunch of great daggers, like the aforementioned Sting and (I just realized) also the ZT 0150, which comes in at 7.5". :(

I have personally owned the Applegate Fairbairn, the Gerber Mark II, and the A.G. Russell Sting.

I was happy with all three of those.

The 7.5" overall length and specially the 4" handle gives you enough to assure a good grip. The edges are scary sharp. Weighs just 3.6 ounces (5 ounces with the nice sheath).

I think the Boker Plus Schanx Integral Dagger would be a great choice. I had one and it is as solid a knife as I ever had. Gave it to my son, but it is still on my new wish list! Of course you bump up against the 8" minimum as the Boker has a 7" blade.

Specification:
Overall Length: 11 5/8"
Blade Length: 7"
Blade Thickness: 1/4"
Weight: 14 oz
Blade Material: 440C Stainless
Handle Material: Micarta
Item Number: BOP180

Thanks ppl, il let u know what I go for.

Just clarify I was quoting overall lengths when I stated 8-12inch, but sure would consider an oal of 7.5inches.

I also really want a full tang and would prefer a plain finish as opposed to a powder coating.

I do like the simplicity of plain carbon steel, apart from ontario are there any other good manufacturers who do carbon / tool steel blades ?

That boker looks very nice.

A dagger has to be very nimble in order for effective use. I find that missing in the Boker dagger, though it is built like a tank.
