I have only one Spyderco now. It is a very nice Manix 2 that my son gave me earlier this year. I think I will have an opportunity to visit the store in Golden, CO this week and was considering another knife. I would like a plain blade, smaller than the Manix and American made.

You're missing out on a lot of top notch spydercos if it must be made in USA. If you're worried about quality, the Taiwan made spydercos are just as good or better than the golden models

How much smaller?

The Manix has a 3.5 inch blade & is 8 inches overall.

I love the little Dragonfly & would recommend the G10 scales. 2.25 inch blade, 5.5 inches overall with VG10 steel (but it is from Japan) Alternatively the Chaparral or Sage comes in at 2.75 inches, 7.25 inches overall with even better S30V steel.

I'd serious consider the Sage...

I'm just trying to support American workers and American made products.

Thanks Ben.

I would also recommend the Native V. I have both an M2 and an N5. If you like the M2, the Native is somewhat smaller but very tough and has a blade shape similar to the M2.

If you want something even smaller, then I would second the Leafstorm recommendation. I don't have mine anymore because the frame lock was a bit difficult for me to work, but the knife was outstanding.

Thanks BH49 and Dale. It looks like the Leafstorm and Native 5 are both highly recommended. Now to see what's available and how they are priced at the store in Golden.

Most likely will be less expensive to buy on-line. There are quite a few great dealers on this forum, you can find them in exchange section and check their websites.
You can also join Spyderco forum, a lot of information over there.
good luck.

I know you said made in USA but I really would check out a few of the out of Country knives, they are still Spyderco knives and have the same standards. I would note that overseas models aren't fully assembled or that all the supplies are made from said Country(s); Spyderco and it's US employees in some way have something to do with all their knives. (Please someone do correct me if I am totally wrong, I was pretty sure I heard someone says this).

My suggestions would be:
Sage 1
Para-military 2
Delica 4 FFG
Endura 4 FFG
Native 5
Dragonfly 2

All great knives for good/great prices.

I'm sure it will cost a little more. Being from a tiny town in the boonies almost all of our shopping is done online. Every now and then it's fun to get that instant gratification.

I just thinned the herd of countries I don't wish to support. Isn't the PM2 and the Native USA made?
